That's just insane. That's $345+ per card. The only card of any real value is Gretzky. The article states probably about 25 of them in the case. He better hope their all 10s and 9s if he wants to recoup.

I heard that the value is in keeping it sealed so it may not hit the street at all?

Yeah, that is what I was thinking, especially after seeing Chuck's math. Makes more sense to sit on it for a year or 2 seeing that it was an investor who bought it to begin with.

It seems the gentleman who won this auction is having buyers remorse. he has reached out to "stars" such as the Edmonton Oilers owner, poker star Daniel Negreanu & rapper Drake to see if they'd be interested in taking them off his hands for $3.7 million. Link to the article;

Funny ending where the winning bidder states "that if no one suitable wants them, he'll give them to a former school crush who he said inspired his interest in hockey." I hope I was the one he had a crush on in high school!
