I reccently purchased a large lot of oversized hockey cards & found two without a "home".
They are 1998-99 UD Choice 5"x7" jumbo cards, with the diamond hologram stamp on back corner & no foiling on the front.
1 of 5 = ?
2 of 5 = Sergei Samsonov - Bruins (saw one on ebay)
3 of 5 = John LeClair - Flyers (in hand)
4 of 5 = Brendan Shanahan - Red Wings (in hand)
5 of 5 = Dominik Hasek - Sabres (thanks to althib)
The currently listed 5-card "Blow Up" insert set has a different roster of players.
These cards are not stamped Preview (and Shanahan was not in that set) so it is not likely to have been packed with that release.
Anyone else have further info?

Was UD Choice released in 2 series?

That first ebay listing has the wrong year.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

You're correct about the first card. The listings says 1997-98, but the card design is the same as 1998-99 and there are 1997-98 stats on the back. I can be wrong, but the card seems to be the right one and just an error in the listing title.

Another possibility is these are 2 different sized cards? (I'm just guessing at this point.)

The Gretzky mentioned above is already part of the current Blow Ups listing, so the "second" # 1 of 5 is still unknown.
To answer Dan's question, they are all 5"x7" in size - the old ones & the newly discovered.
I saw a listing for a Blaster Box of these UD Choice cards, which has a design element advertising "Free inside one 5x7 Blow Up card", but no information anywhere else on that box stating how many there are, or who's in the set.
It might be a Hobby vs. Retail set difference. Probably too old to have a Target vs. Walmart retail split. I considered U.S. vs. Canada distribution, but the player & team selections don't seem to "favor" one country's fan base.

Since packs were issued in both "Retail" and "Hobby" boxes, it's possible there was a separate "box topper" set inserted in each type of product. Now how to determine which oversized cards were inserted in which boxes?

Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Additionally, there were separate boxes for the "Preview" release, and they may have been the distribution method for one of these. I don't have any recollection of how we got the Yzerman noiw, 22 years later. :)

The Charlton Standard Catalogue Hockey Cards 15 Edition lists the following:
1 of 5 = Patrick Roy
2 of 5 = Steve Yzerman
3 of 5 = John LeClair
4 of 5 = Martin Brodeur
5 of 5 = Peter Forsberg
Until it can be determined if these were issued in two sets, I suggest we include all in one set. The existing set should be revised to include all ten cards. I can make the changes if it is decided to proceed.
