I am good with whatever the consensus is to leave this set, but the Notes are wrong, and looking at the IR history that is what has led to some confusion. The set Notes currently state:
Notes: Released only as a box set, 44 of these 48 cards correct errors in the initial release. 14 cards feature alternate photos, including 4 (7, 54, 83, 93) with no other errors.
We know they were not only released as a box set, but were definitely available in packs and in a full factory set version. Moving it as a related set under 1991 Maxx would make the most sense to me, since people do open 1991 packs and find these cards, I think having it as its own set confuses those people, as seen looking at the IR history.

Now that Release Notes here can have hyperlinks, I would suggest adding the Update set as is (maybe even moving it up to "Major Release" status if the Traks base set is also considered a Major Release, much like we consider Topps Traded sets MRs in Baseball) and adding hyperlinks to the other set in the Release Notes of each set. Also, updating them to acknowledge the Second Printing packs and what they entail would be a good idea. I think this would be the best path moving forward with this product. If anyone needs/wants help in getting this together, I would be happy to assist. (Just drop me a message.)

Dan, I just read your reply after having already altered the release notes for the Update set. I didn't think about the hyperlink thing though. All I did was add "Originally" to the beginning of the note and then a line at the end stating that they were later released in 2nd Printing pack and sets. I don't care if the set listing gets moved or changed though, so I'm not going to bother with that.

Don't mean to start anything, but do want to make sure it is documented here. I found the Maxx Faxx issue that announced the update cards. You can see a picture of the article here-
(In case the imbedded image doesn't work, here is a link- https://ibb.co/rcPRrt6)
It appears that the intent was that the Factory Update Set, Complete Retail Set w/Updated cards, and Printing II Packs were all released with similar timing and Maxx planned all along to distribute the Updated cards via all 3 methods of distribution simultaneously.
It seems to me at the very least, this should be listed under the 1991 Maxx Set, rather than its own independent set. I still think the argument can be made that these should be listed as ERR/COR/VAR under the base 1991 Maxx set with this new information, but understand if the preference would be to list them as a separate set. Not doing anything on my own on this, just looking to solicit opinions of the community based on this new information. If the consensus is still to leave as is, I can live with that.

I would say that if the cards in the boxed set were also available in packs, then the boxed set should not have its own listing. The release notes and packaging pictures can describe the existence of the boxed set, but packed out cards should appear in the main checklist.

Didn't we already cover this on the first page of this exact thread? I have that same Maxx Faxx issue which is where I got all the info for the differences of the update cards in the first place. The CL was inside of that issue with the exact differences but the Update Factory set was released well before update cards were put into packs and factory sets.

I don't think it matters what was issued first if Maxx stated before the cards were released that the Update cards would be available in both sets and packs.
Now if the box set was issued first with no origiinal intention of putting them in packs, I agree with you. But the article Maxx issued before the cards were available for sale shows they had always intended to put them in packs from the very beginning.
