Hi everyone.
I saw this 1982 Tony Gwynn Hawaii Islanders cards on auction on Ebay, it's states it's graded "10 GEM MINT" by a company called "Capitol Grading" (I'm not familiar with this company), but something seems off about this card, I don't want to call it a fake just yet, but the top of the image seems cropped, and the letters "ALLON FORD M" are cut in half.

The highest bid is currently at $26.00 with a little over an hour to go, which looks too good to be true, I've seen other cards like this one go for hundreds, especially if they're graded high by companies such as PSA, so for me, the red flags are many...
What do you think?? This card is No. 1 on my want list, but thinking it may be fake would take all the fun away from owning it..

No, that's definitely a forgery. It's not even a 10!

There's just too much hooyie out there. People trying to make a buck a anothers expense. It would be so easy to buy the supplies and start putting out a line of Ed's Graded Cards. I design, print, grade and slab em. You buy em, because they might just be the real thing. Ok, medication is taking effect, time to get offline before I offend. Night all!

That one and the one slabbed and graded by Beckett look the same. All the others, the raw ones and the PSA, look like the card on this site. It is a card known to be counterfeited. You can't see the reverse on the one for the link your looking at. But I would say it's FAKE. The TCMA would have a off white back not a pure white back like the Beckett one which the one your linking to looks very similar too. To me the back is the giveaway

I found little to nothing regarding Capitol Grading. This should be reported as "suspicious"

I have reported the item, just in case. I didn't claim it was a forgery, but "appeared to be".

Thanks everyone. I reported the item as well, but regardless, the card ended up going for $106 bucks.
I feel bad for whomever bought it, and I hope they're forever blissfully ignorant about the authenticity of the card.
Bulled dodged.
