Fun stuff, even though he helped beat my O’s in the ‘79 series.  Did not realize he was still pitching in ‘89 at the age of 42!

Yeah he was a pretty solid closer/reliever/starter for a pretty long time. I checked out his rookie season and he was 27 as a rookie, spending a total of about 6 1/2 seasons in the minor leagues after being drafted out of college. So he had a bit of a late start. He was the ultimate baseball nerd, but he had talent. No doubt about that. He was the first submarine pitcher I saw as a kid growing up in the 80's. I also can't believe he had nearly 100 career wins. Maybe we could say he was kind of like the ultimate utility pitcher, since he could pitch in any role needed.
