Lifelong Twins and Killebrew fan.

I started collecting as a kid in 1971. Walking up to the milk store about 10 blocks away, plopping down my 10 cents for a wax pack and 5 cents for a bubs Daddy. First card I remember seeing in a wax pack was Tom Tiimmerman - still have the card in my collection.

I really got hooked in 1972 when I saw a rack pack with the Roberto Clemente in Target. In 1975 My aunt bought my brother and me a complete set of Topps cards which took what seemed forever to arrive. I got the Dodgers cards, my brother got the Reds cards (we had to hate something about each other) and I think we divided up the rest.

Started collecting for complete sets in 1976-1979. Stopped in 1980 cuz it wasn't cool as a HS Senior.

Then back chasing the complete set dragon in 1981 and enjoyed the dawn of the junk wax era. Limiting my PC to 1980 and older. No new stuff.

Completed sets: 1968-1987

Listing a lot of my 1960s and 70s dupes on my eBay page to fund my quest for 1954-67 set builds.

Trading: I try to propose or trade similar value cards, PWE if it works.

if conditions aren’t listed, assume my cards are VG, VGEX or EX.

Looking to obtain VG-EX cards for my sets, with no major creases, paper loss or marks on the front. O/C is fine.

I have tons of mid to late 70s cards I haven’t listed here so if you need them, let me know.

looking forward to doing some trades toward completing my sets!

Long-time collector whose first pack of baseball cards (1976 Topps baseball) ignited a love of cardboard. At times I’ve collected complete sets, as well as players-  but the primary focus of my collection these days is Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves Topps Team Sets.

I enjoy trading with others on this site but ask that the following conditions be met in any deal:

  • Post-1980 cards need to be Near Mint-Mint (NRMT-MT) -with centering no worse than 60/40, original color borders and gloss, and no more than one corner showing a slight touch of wear. I’ve had too many modern cards sent to me with multiple corners damaged. I’m not interested in your junk.
  • Please don’t request Short-printed or SP Variations without offering a comparable card or “package” of cards. Four common base cards for a SP that would cost you anywhere from $4-$16 to buy doesn’t work. Please don’t waste your time.
  • Please make sure you apply proper postage. Sometimes PWEs come 44 cents or whatever postage due, I get it- the USPS is getting pickier when it comes to “rigid” envelopes. But if you’re sending three dozen cards, ship it in a bubble mailer or over multiple PWEs. If you’re sending a stack of 8 cards and it’s over 1/4” thick, make sure you’re not just putting a couple of stamps on it. I’ve had to make too many trips to the Post Office to pay $3 and change postage due. And if you receive a postage due envelope from me, please let me know so I can correct any wrongdoing on my part.

Failure on these three conditions will result in Negative Feedback. I hate coming across as a jerk, but I’m even more tired of giving away good cards for stuff that end up in the garbage and out-of-the-way trips to the Post Office that I shouldn’t have to make. Your understanding is appreciated.

***** IMPORTANT ******  For the time being [Winter/Spring 2024], I am likely going to limit transactions to small-in-nature...think 10-or-less.  The only exception would be base-card exchanges where valuation is largely irrelevant.  I will spare you details, but in order to provide the prompt response I prefer to, this is a change I need to make for the time being.  Thanks.

****. With the taking on of a merged Collection, Traders would be wise to click on the "Match Wantlist to Collection" link...in addition to Trade Matching.  If a card is outside of my listed Collection parameters [i.e., Dave Winfield, Robin Yount, Jose Canseco, Hank Aaron, etc.], it is likely FS/T in the newly Merged Collection.  I have not decided how I am going to transfer items over to FS/T yet, as I have hardly had any opportunity to look through the cards to get an idea of where things might be located....and this could take some time. *******

Additionally, I have begun the process of adding my Vintage cards - here is what I am going to do...in efforts to get them in with SOME expediency, my first round will be to log them in.  Since I do not expect any of them to be NrMnt, understand that any card NOT given a Condition Moniker...is awaiting one.  If you put those on-trade without looking here first, I will alert you during the trade that Condition is pending, and I will prioritize your card(s).  If you see a FR or PR card listed, that card is available to you free of anything in-trade.  Just put it on your trade and it's yours - we're calling the card a Placeholder until you find Sir Minty!!!

After this brief Intermission, come my Collection Parameters......[cue Python Intermission Music]

I collect:

Tony Gwynn cards

NY Mets cards

Craig Biggio cards

Kirby Puckett cards

*** The Torborg Family - Jeff, Dale, and Doug  ***

The Username...I am a Monty Python fan.  Castle Anthrax is the castle in the Holy Grail movie that houses all the white-clad ladies who are under the oversight of Zoot.  She wonderfully says in response to Sir Galahad's query of the castle's name:  "it's not a very good name, is it?"  And so it is.  You can also call me Shoe Shine Boy, as that's the name I should have chosen and has occupational relevancy.

Among my favorite Gwynn cards is the 1997 Topps Sweet Strokes insert.  Give the back a read and marvel.

Trade Proposal Recommendations:

Your best enticement is Tony Gwynn cards!!  That’s my Primary Collection.  I would love to find my excess cards a better home.  My favorite trades are the ones i can enjoy at a glance:

  • Base cards for Base cards
  • Inserts for Inserts inside a set (i.e., trade the Maddux insert for Gwynn insert) - THIS ARRANGEMENT might just earn you some generosity if you can swing it.
  • Inserts for Inserts (90s and. 00s in-focus)
  • Serials for Serials

I don't mind mixing card types up, at all.

I'm good with PWE or padded - as we transact, we'll iron out those preferences.

I've been a baseball collector since the late 80's and love to trade.  I am primarily a set collector and belong to several online trading clubs.  My never ending goal is to collect all the regular issued Topps cards from 1952 to present.

My main collecting interests are vintage cards,  Minnesota Twins,  a few newer sets and Bert Blyleven.

Vintage sets:  1952 Topps, 1953 Topps, 1954 Bowman, 1954 Topps,  1955 Topps,  1956 Topps,  1957 Topps,  1963 Topps,  1967 Topps

Newer sets: 2004 Donruss,  2005 Donruss,  2012 Cooperstown.

* I prefer not to trade vintage cards (below 1976) for newer cards.

* Before delivering or accepting a proposal please make sure you have all of the cards.

Open to trades or sales of my cards, but please look up the values on Beckett or Sportlots before you propose a trade to me. I will decline offers that are heavily weighted in your favor. If they are close I'm more likely to accept, or at least counter. I prefer larger trades versus smaller ones in order to offset the time and cost required to find the cards and ship them.

I started on a great endeavor at the beginning of the pandemic to complete Topps baseball sets from 1975 to 1985. I got about halfway through it and got burnt out on it. I'm going through my wantlists now to flip the uncompleted sets (1982, 78, 77, 76, and 75) to my 'For Sale/Trade' list

I will send most trades through Plain White Envelope (PWE), but for larger trades I'll send packages instead. Please let me know if you would prefer a different shipping arrangement when proposing a trade.

My profile picture is me with my favorite player Manny Sanguillen in the summer of 2023.

My Collecting History

My first pack of cards was in 1971.  My mom bought me the pack of cards from Bullman's Market in Mt. Chestnut, I remember that.  But I was only 5, so the collecting bug didn't take hold.  It wasn't until I was 11 in the summer of 1977 when I started collecting baseball cards.  I would buy all the 15 cent packs of baseball cards I could with my allowance money and the money I made from my paper route. Later that summer my grandmother had given me a bag full of hundreds of older baseball cards she had collected.  I didn't know many of the players names at the time, but thought they were cool.  Turns out they were mostly 1960 Topps baseball with a bunch of 1959 and 1961 Topps baseball.  In the summer of 1979 my father took me and my friends to a flea market in North Park, I think it was called Wildwood Flea Market.  It was the first time I saw a dealer that sold baseball cards.  I remember buying a Mint condition 1960 Yogi Berra for $5.00, I am sure there were others, but the Berra is the one I remember.  (I may add more to this in the future, but that is enough for now.)

What I Collect

Mostly vintage baseball.  Vintage being 1980 and before.  After 1980 just cards that I really like or have a special meaning to me.  My favorite sets are 1954, 1956 and 1960 Topps Baseball, also 1949 and 1953 Bowman Baseball.

My "wants" for my Cardinals collection is accurate from 1900 - 2008.  I still have about 12,000Plus Cardinals cards from 2009-present to sort through and enter.  Please do not offer any Cardinals cards from 2009-present unless you contact me first as there is a chance I already have it amongst the multitude to still go through.

I still have about 30K Cardinals duplicates that are not yet enterred in the database as FS/FT.

Hockey: St Louis Blues.

Football: St Louis Cardinals 1960-1987. St Louis Rams: 1995-2015.
