Detroit Tigers, HOF's, Topps sets

Was a Junk Wax era kid who has gotten back into the hobby in the summer of '22.

Current Focus is Topps set and insert set building. Working backwards from 2021 and forward from 1991:

'93 Topps = 15% = This will be my winter project

'22 Topps '87 Inserts (Series 1, Series 2, Update and Chrome):

  • Series 1 = 100% complete!
  • Series 2 = 100% complete!
  • All Stars = 100% complete!
  • Series 1 Chrome MOJO = 12%
  • Series 2 Chrome MOJO = 10%
  • Chrome = 100% complete!
  • Update = 86% = 7 to go
  • Update Chrome MOJO = 10.7%

'23 Topps '88 inserts (Series 1, Series 2, Update and Chrome):

  • Series 1 = 48%
  • Series 2 = 12%
  • All Stars = 14%%
  • Series 1 Chrome MOJO = 9%
  • Series 2 Chrome MOJO = 0%
  • Chrome
  • Update
  • Update Chrome MOJO

Although this is where I'm focused at the moment, I'm still open for any trade proposals.

I enjoy proposing/accepting trades of all sizes, bring 'em on! With that said, I will leave a proposal up for 48 hours and if there is no traction on the trade, I'll withdraw it. No hard feelings, it just helps me keep track of trades better this way.

I'm fine with trading different eras or sports as long as both sides are happy with it. I do prefer to trade modern #'d cards for #'d cards, parallels for parallels, inserts for inserts, ect, but again, as long as both sides are happy with the offers then I'm flexible.

I take pride in packaging to ensure that your cards reach you in top condition.

PC Detroit Tigers = Kaline, Cash, Horton, Lolich, Trammell, Whitaker, Morris, C. Fielder (DET only), Cabrera (DET only), Verlander (DET only), Mize, Skubal, Manning, Torkelson, Greene and K. Carpenter

Non Detroit Tigers PC = HOF's

Shipping to U.S. only

NOTICE: I've decided to make a slight change my trading approach.   I really don't have any interest in doing these large "player collection" trades anymore.  I'm a set collector and all my traders are stored by set (in nearly 100 3,200 count boxes).  It sometimes takes me hours to pull cards where someone is only looking for certain players.  Going forward, I will be rejecting these types of large trades.  I'm looking to help people complete their sets and vice versa.  A good rule of thumb when sending a trade proposal... think how many boxes will I have to pull from?  Sorry, but I hope you understand.  Craig

I’ve been collecting cards for over 47 years and have over 521,000 unique cards in my main collection, including some nice vintage stuff.  I collect older cards of the four major sports but lately I've been expanding to some more recent sets.  I'm primarily a Set Builder and I’m looking for other like-minded set builders to trade with.   I’ve accumulated tons of extra cards that I would like to trade away with almost 250,000 cards in my current For Trade list.  Big trades don't bother me. I have a huge Want List, so hopefully you have something I need.  Feel free to make me an offer.

For Canadian Traders: It's expensive for me to trade across the border.  Going forward I would like to limit cross border trades to two (2) PWEs. That's about 54 standard-size cards.  Thanks.

For Anyone Outside US/Canada: The increased postal rates have made it impossible for me to trade outside North America cheaply.  So going forward I will have to decline trades from outside US/Canada.  Sorry about that.

Update on Donruss/Leaf * Variations and Upper Deck Holo Variations:
I can't guaranty the junk wax era Donruss/Leaf cards and the UD holo variations are listed with the correct variation.  Going forward I will no longer check the variations on these cards.  If you want these cards regardless of the variations, feel free to request them in the trade.  However, If you want a specific variation of these cards, I'm no longer your guy - please don't put them in the trade request.  For all other cards that have variations, I will continue to check and make sure you get the correct one.

Note on Vintage Cards:
I have over 6,000 vintage cards listed for trade (I consider vintage to be 1977 or earlier).  For each card I've noted a condition grade and if you check closer, a note on each regarding any condition issues (be sure to select the correct one if multiple cards are shown).  Please note that I'm by no means a professional grader and if you're hyper-sensitive on card condition, please message me first and I'd be happy talk about it.  In exchange for these cards, I have three priorities:

  • 1) similar vintage cards that I need (any sport)
  • 2) inserts for my 90s sets that I need (any sport)
  • 3) or non-junk era base cards that i need as a last resort (any sport)

Note on Card ConditionA card noted as Pr, Fr, Gd, or GdVg will have some obvious condition issues such as creasing, corner wear, or marks.  I would consider them place holders in a collection at best (I've listed them because some people do want place holders).  A VG card will usually be a clean card with some corner wear or a centering issue.  For me, VG would be the bare minimum for my personal collection.  EX will be nice sharp card and VgEx will be something just between VG and Ex, still a nice card with a small issue that prevents it from being EX.  NM in vintage is a tough find.

Update after 6 months on site (joined on Thanksgiving 2020; couldn't host or travel that day due pandemic lockdown)

I continue to be impressed by the membership here.  100 deals completed, and only 2 with issues (1 wasn't delivered due p.o. imcompetence, trading partner made it right immediately; and another trader didn't fully describe item with a major flaw and then sent incorrect cards but made up for it after a 2 month wait).  All partners I've dealt with show commitment to shipping quickly and doing drama-free deals, and I sincerely hope that continues!  Haven't yet completely decided how to handle vintage card deals, it just seems easier to deal with modern stuff so there are no disagreements regarding card condition which can get sticky at times.

Near term direction and goals:  Add Mike Schmidt needs to wantlist, add wants in 2002 Topps 206 and 2003 Topps 205 mini sets (non-polar bear backs) and complete 2009 Topps 206 mini set with all Piedmont-back SP variations.

The most enjoyable trades I've found were with individual team 'super collectors'.  I've got enough oddball stuff going back to the early 70s that I can usually find something they've been in search of for a while, and I enjoy the dig!

Still trying to complete my 1988 Score set (I know.....)

Currently collecting:

     Baseball:

  • Topps Heritage - 2010 (with all inserts), 2021-2024 (base only)
  • Topps flagship - 2022, 2023, 2024 (including Update, All-Star Game inserts, 35th Anniversary inserts, plus a few others...)

     Basketball:

  • Fleer 1994-95 (with all inserts)
  • Topps 1992-93 (base only)

Somewhat new and still cataloging. I'll be trading primarily. US and Canada only (would prefer small trades to Canada for now). If you want something other than a PWE, please let me know in advance. Preferring SP for SP, RC for RC, insert for insert, etc.  I am open to selling and will entertain offers.

Condition notes (work in progress):

  • early 90s basketball - Most have been well-handled (dinged corners, edge damage, rubbed foil, etc.). I'm happy to provide info on specific cards if wanted.
  • baseball pre-2000 - Most are OK, but I'll let you know if there are any issues before accepting a trade.

TRADING:

UPDATE, 1/5/2024:

Trading is reopened! I've gone through the vast majority of what I have for trade (over 4500 cards so far), better organized them, and checked for condition. I've tried to keep NM-MT or better for 1990-present, and NM or so for pre-1990. There are (naturally) centering issues with products that are known for it, but nothing beyond the norm. My eyes aren't what they used to be though, so if I miss anything, please let me know so I can make it right!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tend to throw out a lot of trades at a time. As I'm making them, I just try to match up value in my head as I go. I'm not always right, as I'm just guessing in the moment, so if it seems lopsided, feel free to counter or decline! But please don't take it personally!

There are so many people trading on TCDB and so many trade matches coming up, it's really hard to keep track of user names. So if I throw out multiple trades to you in a short time, I'm not spamming you - I just forgot that I offered one recently.

I like to give three days on trades I've offered before I withdraw them. I don't take it personally if a trade offer gets no response - people have lives to live beyond TCDB, and I understand that! If a trade is meant to be, it's meant to be, and we'll get to it eventually!

In general, I try to get all accepted trades in the mail as soon as possible. I work in a building with its very own post office, so this means I will generally drop mail off Monday through Friday. If a trade is accepted before (roughly) 5:00 PM MST, I can usually get it in the mail the next morning. Anything after 5:00, I will do my best, but it doesn't always happen and sometimes will go out the day after.

Cards have different values for different people. What's valuable to me may not be valuable to you, and vice versa. So, if I make a trade offer that seems lopsided, please feel free to counter! And if i counter you, please don't be offended! If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out - there are a lot of cards out there, and a lot of time, so we'll get to that trade eventually!

I generally leave feedback when the trade is complete and I get the reminder in my notifications - TCDB is a bit rudimentary, and I don't want to leave double feedback or forget it all together.

Always collecting Angels! Trout & Ohtani specifically right now, but always interested in others! Also love modern cards of inner circle Hall of Famers, like Mantle, Mays, Williams, Robinson, Koufax, etc.

Building a Topps Rookie Cup and Topps Team Card run - I'm wary of trading for vintage, but am looking for them in the following conditions:

Pre-1974 - VG-VGEX (no creases)

1974-1980 - EXMT-NM

1981-Present - NM-MT

EARLY 2000's TOPPS TRIBUTE & ARCHIVES RESERVE - I'm trying to complete these sets, so I'm basically only interested in trading within them.

UPPER DECK "HEROES" SETS - Most of these I'm looking for full sets only, particularly the early ones. The later ones (Jeter, DiMaggio) I'm willing to trade individual cards

Not really interested in trading for the Topps Star Wars cards, as I'd like to just get complete sets.

Super Side Quest:

Carlos Rodon threw a no hitter on my 20th birthday so I'm looking for cards of his serial numbered 0414/2021 and 20/any #. Specifically 2021 Topps Update US288 and US297. I'd probably overpay in a trade for these

I am a set collector, all sports, all manufacturers. Once I start a set, my goal is to finish it. I do prefer to work on sets that I have already started before starting new sets.

As I slowly get my collection catalogued here, I am also working on creating checklists for my sets using Google Sheets, and I am willing to share these templates with anyone that is interested.

I am creating grades for all of my "For Sale/Trade" cards. I am sticking with 4 grades. "Very Good" means that centering is pretty good and there are no issues with card wear with the possible exception of one dinged corner. "Good" means the centering might be off but all borders can be seen, there could be 2 or 3 dinged corners. "Fair" and "Poor" will have an explanation. For 1980 to the present, I will only indicate grades if the condition is good, fair or poor with an explanation. Otherwise assume the condition is excellent or better.

On my wantlist, if I have a condition indicated (EX or VG), this means that I am looking to find a card that will replace one in my collection that is in fair or poor condition.

Thanks for reading my profile. I enjoy trading cards I don't need for those that I do. I've been in this hobby for many years (I remember opening 1955 Bowman packs at our local candy store)! I usually don't pull my end before making a proposal; most times, I'm trying to get a feel for how doable it is, and it saves me from having to refile cards if things fizzle out or if I'm countered.  I will, however, (usually) pull before accepting a trade.  Please counter, if need be!  Communication is key to good trading!   I have some physical limitations..it may take me a bit to pull cards so your patience is appreciated!

1.  My top priority is completing sets.

2.  Recent Phillies teamsets and inserts.  I do multiple teamsets to help local Philthies Phans!

3. Older Phillies teamset needs..all brands.

As mentioned, I love to trade, will reluctantly sell ... cheap, if we cannot swap!  PLMK what I have that you can't live without!  Phillies is my team, through thick and (mostly) thin!  PWE trades are great and assumed unless we agree otherwise - bubbles used if worth the shipping costs!  Slowing down though - the old body won't let me hoss those 5000 count boxes too much - thanks in advance for your patience with me!!
