Each 6-disc strip was inserted inside a plastic puck with the NHL logo stamped on the bottom. The inside of the top of the puck was stamped with an instant prize message, typically "SORRY, PLEASE TRY AGAIN." in English and "MEILLEURE CHANCE LA PROCHAINE FOIS." in French.

Hockey disc pucks were black in colour and included a NHL Team logo sticker, intended to be stuck to the outside of the top of the puck. Non-hockey disc pucks were yellow in colour and included an international sports sticker.

Originally distributed in Canada only in participating boxes of Kellogg's cereals with 1983-84 stats/date on back. Hockey-wise, there were four substitutions added in the second year of the promotion: Daoust to replace Anderson, Herron to replace Kehoe, Gainey to replace Lafleur, and Poulin to replace Sittler. The remaining cards had identical fronts in year #2, but stats/dates from 1984-85.
