Trivia

  • Used as promotion items, the 1977 MSA Discs had identical (or very similar) fronts but different backs for each promotion. MSA stands for Michael Schechter & Associates, who had a partnership with the Players’ Union to create these food issue collectibles. The 1977 MSA backs included: Zip'z, Wendy's, Dairy Isle, Saga, Customized Sports, Holiday Inn, Chilly Willee and Detroit Caesars.

    The discs measured 3- 3/8 inches in diameter.

Virtually identical in format to the several locally sponsored disc sets of the previous year, these 3-3/8" diameter player discs were given away with the purchase of school lunches in the Philadelphia area. They are the scarcest of the 1977 disc sets. Discs once again feature Black-and-White player portrait photos in the center of a Baseball design. the left and right panels are in one of several bright colors. Licensed by the Players Association through Mike Schechter Associates, the player photos carry no uniform logos. Backs are printed in orange with background art of a sunrise over the Mountains. The unnumbered discs are Checklisted here alphabetically.
