- Unlike the 1976-77 and 1977-78 editions that had blank backs, this set has puzzle pieces on the back. Other differences between this set and past editions: 1) the Buffalo Braves became the San Diego Clippers, 2) the New York Nets became the New Jersey Nets, 3) the Philadelphia 76ers updated their logo, and 4) the NBA logo above the Atlanta, Detroit and Milwaukee logos switched from a copyright (with "NBA Properties, Inc." text) to a trademark "TM" symbol.

The backs of the stickers complete a puzzle in 30 pieces. There are variations where the same fronts of the stickers will have different back puzzle pieces. While not numbered, I have designated them by row (numbers 1 thru 5) and columns (letters A thru F), starting in the upper left corner. Thus the upper left corner puzzle piece will be designated A1, while the lower right corner will be F5.
