Year: 1992

Set: Score (Rate)

Card: #438 Scott Erickson

“ That's just creepy. I'd rather have the soccer game cards. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ My what a big head you have.... ” -Doc Floyd

“ Let's celebrate our All Stars...by making them into irrationally disproportionate cartoons. ” -Splinter_9

“ How he isn’t collapsing under the weight of his own head is nothing short of a miracle. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ I LOVE this set. So many different little insert cards such as this, actually in the set, breaks up the set very nicely. I loved the cartoonish look of the all stars. Everything about this set was amazing, except possibly my hatred of too many cards having white borders. The back is great too with the All-Star lineup and blurb about why he was an All-Star. Did I say already I love this card? ” -davidhandberry

“ Looks like Erickson developed a bit of a swelled head after being named to the All-Star team. ” -bevans

“ Ah....1992 Score. I know this is classic "90s junk" in terms of value, but I have always loved this set. Something like 900 cards with TONS of subsets within the set, one of which was the bobblehead inspired All-Star cards.....here again....LOVE IT! One of the few early 1990s sets I actually put in pages....the pages are worth more than the set....LOL! ” -tbshaw

“ OMG!! What is that?! Good thing for ankle supports. =) ” -ranfordfan

“ Loved these as a kid. ” -carthage44

“ One of the worst cards in any set, ever. ” -NJDevils

“ How do his ankles not snap under the weight of that gigantic head??? I'd always thought of Erickson as a dominant pitcher, but apparently I was just very impressionable in 1991. He had a very respectable 15-year career, largely spanning the "juiced hitters era", but statistically he doesn't really stand out. ” -dilemma19

“ I like these cartoon, big head All-Stars cards. I know they look cheesy and maybe even a bit juvenile but they are fun. ” -captkirk42

“ I dig the caricature cards. Now I need some Big League Chew. ” -Doe MG

“ Scott must really be conceited with a head that big. ” -Lerxst2112

“ Don't care for the giant head cards at all. ” -BlueJays77

“ Oh, yeah...I didn't like these when I first saw them. Perhaps it became an even worse idea about 10 years later when the term "steroid era" was starting to be applied to the 90's and early 00's. ” -kents_stuff

“ Terrible. ” -cjjt

I can't believe nobody referenced Ken Griffey Jr.'s gigantism on the Simpsons!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

That`s just strange. First thing I thought when I saw it (besides the enormous mass on his shoulders) was that I was sure I`d seen that card (or one similar to it...) before on RCOD but couldn`t find it anywhere in the past three months or so here since becoming a member. Then I seemed to recall either sending or receiving it in a recent trade but ..nope.. not that eithe. Chalk another one up to age I guess..

I do miss the subsets in card sets now. That being said  I was never a fan of these cards. I thought they were dumb when I was a kid.

Y'all know this was done in 1938, right? And I confess that one of the original big-head cards is currently #1 on my want list. And it must have the cartoons on the front. I shall have one soon, I suspect. It just has to be the right one. This would do nicely:
