I would like to encourage those like myself, who do not have a wantlist or tradelist listed at TCDB. I was "welcomed" by some, who said I had to list all my wantlist and traders here, that I wouldnt get folks to trade if they couldnt see a tradelist. Since I have my 1.3 million card inventory loaded on Sportlots, it wasn't feasible to load it here too. After Admin assured me that I didn't have to do that, I thought I would give this site a try. I am happy to report that you can trade here with neither list loaded. After 10 days of actively checking others lists, I have proposed 19 trades, completed 10 trades, have 4 in progress, and 5 pending. I have received 11 positive feedbacks and I have completed 9 sets, 2 football and 7 baseball. So, if you want to do a little work in checking lists, you can trade here, be encouraged, the old fashion way still works.
I have plenty of all sports, but mainly BB &FB, to trade and have this link to all my traders there. If you see something you need on my Sportlots account, contact me and hopefully we can set up a trade here. https://www.sportlots.com/dealers/?dealer=leonardb
I also have a wantlist, that I update as trades occurr. You can see all my wants there. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?p=10958891#post10958891
Thanks to all the great traders who have accepted my proposed trades, hope to do many more. To anyone willing to check lists, I hope to be able to trade with you. I will continue to search lists, propose more trades, and hopefully complete more sets. Thanks for the read!
Bobby

The "old fashioned" way is not "a little work" it's a lot of time-consuming work. I don't bother with Sportslot because there's no way to search/filter for Raiders, Mets, or Sabres players. I'd have to search for each individual player by name. If you want to do "a little work" and match my Wants and Trades with your Wants and Trades, go ahead.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I wouldn’t have a problem trading with someone without the inventory, but they’d have to put it all together. Just my two cents. :-)

I did a small PWE trade with BobbyL. He did the work. The trade went very well. I will take a look at his Sportlots account to maybe get another small trade going.

To each his own guys, I started trading on the net in 94-old Sportscardfun and use to have to copy and paste wantlist, and go to boxes to see if you had cards. So, I'm old school, I dont mind checking someones list to see if I can help them. Didnt asked you guys to do anything, just wanted other traders without lists to know they dont have to load inventory here.
By the way C2Cigars, some of us have quite a few more cards than you do, so me loading 1.3 million cards twice, would be a "little work". It wouldn't bother me if I only had the small amount that you do!

I'm convinced. I've deleted by collection, want list, and trade list.
I'm not stopping here!
I've started thowing all of the paper away off of the TP roll and wiping by butt with the cardboard center.
I took the batteries out of my remote control and use them to poke the volume and channel buttons on my television directly (I've wisely labeled the two batteries with an "UP" and a "DOWN" label, wouldn't want to confuse the two!)
Be damned with using stuff "the intended way". Ain't no one going to tell me how to go about doing what I wanna do!
Let them trades start rollin' in boyz.
PS, anyone else think that BobbyL and a certain fire starter might be related?

This thread seems to be getting a bit testy here. I think we all need to calm down and look at the big picture. This is all about a hobby we all enjoy and it's about improving our collections and those of fellow traders. We should focus on building positive relationships with fellow collectors. Those of us that have entered our collections here from the start should count ourselves lucky because the tools here are perfect for tracking and trading our collections. Try to imagine starting from scratch after already once cataloging an enormous collection. A daunting task to say the least. I don't think anyone is arguing the advantages of trading through a catalog listed on this site, just the time involved in getting all that inventory entered.....again. That being said, there's more than one way to consumate a trade. So what has been proposed is an alternative to improve your collections by trading using a different tool. Arguably not as convenient a tool as is provided by this site, but a tool nonetheless. I think it's best to encourage the trading of our collections by any means available. Just my opinion, and it's worth what you paid for it.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.

To each his own and everyone else has their choice on whether they wish to trade with someone else.
Personally, I took the time to enter my collection which is no small feat. Yes it took time but isn't doing things with the cards part of the hobby? It also gave me a chance to look at my cards again (and again and again). By having all of my collection entered, it does give potential traders a chance to choose the cards from my trade list that will benefit their collection the most. If the person who proposes to me a trade does not have his traders listed, I have no option to counter and maybe get a card to complete a set instead of a card that will still leave me missing may cards froma set. (Personally, I rather complete a set than still have 100 cards missing.)
But again, we all have the choice of who we trade with. I do take a bit of offense that someone who joined the site less than a month ago comes along and tries to "upset the apple cart". We have always encouraged new members to take their time and enter their collection, want list and for trade list. Along comes someone from the outside and suggests don't bother. Think of it, if none of us had any lists entered, how would we trade?
Members on this site have usually been very polite and well-mannered; many have commented that what they like best about this site is that there is very little bickering between members, unlike other sites. Let's keep it that way.

Opinions are one thing. Insulting other members is another, and as we have seen in the past, won't be tolerated.
I will let potential traders make their own informed decisions:

I completed a great trade with BobbyL. It was a small trade I received 2 x '84 Topps football cards for 1 x '97 non-Topps Baseball card. I would do trades like that all day long. It was easy for me to manually annotate that trade into my collection on TCDB.
Great trade...thanks Bobby!
However, if it was a larger trade....let's say 100+ cards each way (one of my in-progress trades) I would be hesitant/reluctant to do an "off-book" trade because of the amount of work that would be required to maintain an accurate inventory. Especially if the trade involved cards from multiple-years & multiple-sets.
TCDB is my collection management tool of choice. As a result I prefer to operate within the parameters of the database. And to be honest, the trade system here is better than anywhere else. I feel fortunate that this is site I chose to record my collection. At this point in my collecting career it would take a monumental event to make change. In that regards, I understand where BobbyL is coming from (eventhough my collection is only 1/10th the size of his).
So, although I am more than willing to do small trades outside the TCDB '"system", I would hope that those that don't upload their collections understand that large trades are time consuming and that some of us prefer using TCDB's transaction management tool.
