Not really sure the New York Mets would have much ground to stand on. There are four NHL teams that share names with other sports already- New York and Texas Rangers, Winnipeg and New York Jets, Florida and Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles and Sacramento Kings..and that's not even taking into account the Capitols, which pretty much every Washington DC based team has called itself at some point.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I wonder how many of the Vegas season tickets were purchase by casinos and handed out as comps? Nothing wrong with that, just curious about it. I would loved to get comped with tickets if I ever return to Las Vegas.

I do believe they could not allow those to be counted as season ticket holders, I am sure they had to be private citizens with their own mailing address, but the nagain we all know how crooked casinos are!! I like the Steelheads as well and the Kracken name has beenlauded as ill advised around these parts. Have also read that the Saphires(?) (the gemstone one) is also quite popular as it was used by a past team in hockey as well.

Steelheads has a minor league ring to it, but I do like it. Kracken does't sit well with me because I don't like team names not ending in "s". The Krackens I could live with though, so chalk it up to my neuroticism. I obviously was joking about the Skating Sonics, but the Sonics name would be cool too and it could be used for basketball. It would remind me of when there was the St. Louis Cardinals in Football and Baseball. Not sure I like the Saphires.

I am nowhere near Seattle or even the western US, I don't really care for hockey (but the Olympic hockey games were really interesting this year), and I have absolutely no stake in this or a chance to go to a game, but...
All I could think of while reading this whole thread was the Pilots!

I guess I was the only one against Seattle getting an expansion team. I was wanting Indianapolis or Kansas City or a Canadian location.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I would have like Kansas City or a Canadian team as well. As for Indianaoplis, I guess I never really thought of them as a hockey city, but they would be a better choice than some cities in the NHL. What I really would like to see is some relocation of some (not all) of the southern cities to cities like Seattle, Kansas City, and a few Canadian cities (bring back the Nordiques). I think one of the annoying things with hockey is the southern expansion into cities that do not care about the sport at all in the NHL's attempt for geographic coverage and a hopeful growth in followers.
The attempt did work in some southern cities, and I will admit, some have great followings, but there are too many southern cities still in the game where followers are minimum, people do not even know what hockey is, and if it wasn't for road team fans filling the venues, the teams would have very little ticket sales.

I remembered the gem .... it is Emeralds. I do believe there was a minor pro team that was pretty successful. As for the against it, to me Seattle is close enough to be considered canadian-esque. LOL Vancouver needs a rivalry and that would be perfect. As for other cities getting teams, there are always owners who ONLY want new and then there are owners willing to sell and then they move team or just move. Calgary (at the moment), Florida, Carolina (sadly) ..... they are all teams that can up and move and cities like Quebec City, Indianapolis, Kansas City .... they all fit that bracket. Also look where they stand in TV ratings lists, that is almost a given in decision making.

They could name them the Seatlle Metropolitans as the Mets coprright is only for the New York Metropolitans. For example, you had the Trenton Thunder, minor league baseball, before the OKC Thunder. I am sure people could think of more examples.
