Unfortunately I'm more of a quantity than quality guy with my collection. I had a gf spend $300 or so on a Jackie Robinson card and I thought wow I wouldn't ever spend that much on myself. I've probably accumulated $25 or so on sales on Sportlots and then used that money for a $20 card for my 1969 or 1970 sets couple of times.

Somewhat embarrased to admit it, but I believe it was $5.00 on a 1985 Topps Don Mattingly. Please let me explain. I've overpaid at boxes chasing cards. I love opening packs and having that hope of pulling something awesome or chunking out a set. I love collecting and just love getting as much as I could for the sets I've collected. When I have had money for a nice card, I always end up buying a box of something. I keep saying I am going to start to buy some of the greats, but everytime, I can't get over my addiction to bulk and chasing the big ones!!!

The most I spent on a single card was around $100 for a Terry Bradshaw rookie card. Mainly because I've been a Steeler fan since the 70's and it was the last rookie card of the main Steeler players from that era.

For me it was $30 for a 1961-62 Fleer Elgin Baylor. The card has a little bit of damage on the front (not on the picture) but otherwise was in really great shape.

I'm more of a box/pack opener. The fun of opening a pack not knowing what's inside is what I love. But I remember years ago I got $30 to spend on my birthday. I ended up getting a 1959 topps Duke Snider world series play and Cubs clubbers featuring Ernie Banks. I also paid $30 for a 1962 Topps Stan Musial.

Low grade 1952 Topps Mantle for $2900 which was top of the market at the time and $20 for a high grade 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan that was believed to be a reprint but turned out to be authentic. All of this pre-internet days. Next to impossible to be this fortunate these days.

I've paid $100 for a single card several times. That will change when I bite the bullet on an 86 Fleer Jordan.

I paid $150 for a 1960 Topps Mantle at a mall show a few years back . That was the most I spent on one card . The next closest was $90 for a 1968 Topps Ryan rookie .
