The Josh Timlin card for this set is listed as #311 on the Topps checklist, but the back of the card has #164 which is Joe Kelly. The database has Timlin listed as UER 164c making it a variation. Shouldn't the card be listed as UER #311 with the error bein numbered 164 on back? If you guys agree with me, could someone with permissions please make this change.

No. Card # errors are listed as the card number that appears on the card.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

As usual, C2C nailed it - the card should be listed in the database as the number printed on the card, then noted in the Note2 field "UER: Player should be #311 per the checklist" or some sort of verbiage like that to explain what the error (in this case that wasn't corrected) was.

Why would you list it as a variation. The back of card 250 in the set clearly shows that #311 is Timlin so that should be the number of the card and be listed as an UER for having the wrong # on the back. Why can't it be done that way. It is clearly NOT a variation of #164

Admin has stated that the card numbers should reflect what is printed on the card, so listing it as card 311 wouldn't be correct. Yes it is not a true variation of card 164, it nonetheless belongs under that card number listed as an error. I see your point though but there is not a true numbered card 311 for that set.

Then that would make the set 329 base cards instead of 330 beacuse you have 164a and 164c being a variation and not a seperate card.

My head is being filled with memories of sorting 1986 Topps. Frustrating that this has happened on more recent sets too.

Think about this way; using your logic all NNO card sets are one card sets. You're getting hung up on card numbers instead of card subjects. The number of cards in a set is based on subjects not card numbers. Josh Timlin is one subject and Joe Kelly is a separate subject.

I understand your logic completely but the way it is listed, it has turned a base card with an error into a variation of another card, which it is not.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards
