Yeah, I sometimes wonder if people at the card companies ever read our forums just to see what people think of their cards. Topps, my idea was a joke. Don't do that. Please don't.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I would bet they do. I know back in the early 2000s they did on the now long-gone Trader Retreat forum. Even ran a contest on the forum for card design, one was Card of the day here not long ago. In 2016 I made a post on Cardboard History complaining about the small size of the Olympics set and a well known employee of Topps responded. Brian Gray of Leaf is a known forum/blog reader but spends most of his time on there replying to attacks, which to me seemed more like bandwagon piling on than actually grounded in reality. The guy behind TCMA once commented on the Night Owl blog.
The thing is, most people behind the scenes in the hobby are also collectors, and have a vested interest in the hobby.. beyond a paycheck....but they rarely post on forums because when they do, they end up not getting to enjoy themselves and are barraged with questions, requests and even attacks. I've seen it happen with my own eyes more than once. I'd like to say that wouldn't happen here, but I can't... because I'm not sure I have the willpower to resist doing it myself. If Panini was here I could likely not hold my tongue and tell them what I think of their small, insufficient sets..I already have on their own website, even if they don't publish my comments.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I have to echo Billy's sentiments here. I was extremely hesitant to let others know of my past at Star International (Star Company) from 86 to 93. I figured since it was 25+ years at this point, and the fact that company is long gone, there would be very little, if any, complaints about the product (or personal attacks). Thankfully, there have been zero here. There have been some negative comments about some of the cards that came up on RCOTD, but I think there would be for any card. (Seriously!)
It would be interesting to see if there is anyone else here who is (or was) involved with any card companies.

Couldn't remember if he had been public about that or not. I know we had some private conversations so I didn't want to say anything I couldn't back up with public knowledge. :)

The reason Topps numbers the Update/Traded set differently is so they can sell complete factory sets of series 1 & 2 as soon as series 2 comes out.

Good call. I'll go with that idea.

I typeset most of the set. It was fun reviewing the "stat sheets" they submitted.
The one girl really wrote "perfect" for her measurements. So we put that on her card.
