Ok, we're bumping the goals thing, not the bad trader thing. I follow now. My goals
1. Collect the entire Topps Winter Olympics set (I don't think I've ever built a set in the traditional sense)
2. Buy a hobby box of cards ( another thing I've never done) (I guess 1 & 2 can possibly go hand in hand)
3. Buy a nice vintage baseball card, more than $20 (Ideally Musial or Gibson) (I've probably never spent more than $10 on a card that wasn't a gift)
4. Acquire a card from the 19th century (all these cool non-sport sets uploaded lately have really caught my eye)
5. Get rid of the bulk of my doubles
6. Get a boxing card (Seems easy enough, but it's the only TCDB category I have no cards from)
7. Transfer my cards from 5000-Ct to 3200-Ct boxes
8. Get a nice card of every active Cardinal and Pacer if I don't have one (I'm starting to appreciate SN, AU, and MEM cards)
9. Maybe subscribe to SI For Kids, to get cards from non-mainstream sports. Maybe some curling favorites will be included!
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I'd gladly overcharge you for my 1961 Gibson card. ;-)
-------------------------------
Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Right! I knew I’d forget something. I, too, really want a card from the 19th century. I need to start stalking some Old Judge cards again. Good reminder.
(Better go back and edit my first post, so it’s all in one place.)

I'd almost agree to that since my oldest Gibson is a '69.

I haven't really set any goals for 2018 yet. Mine would mostly be to keep doing what I'm doing. I think my incomplete-set list is down to only 4 sets now (two MLB, 1 NFL, 1 NASCAR), so I'd like to complete those.
Here are the big dreams:
* I'd love to get to 1,500 Jimmie Johnson cards (or 20 AUs and ten 1/1's).
* Get any vintage Stan Musial card.
* Complete my Lou Brock vintage list, including a RC.
* Get more Bob Gibson vintage cards.
In football, I'd love to add an AU card each of Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly.

How can I pass up that offer?

Huh, spaz, looks like our baseball tastes are similar. Not to gloat, just stating facts, but: getting a 1963 Musial a couple years ago was very big to me; buying the Brock rookie about 20 years ago was my biggest baseball card expenditure at the time; and I'm always working toward finishing my Topps Gibson collection, though it's not a specific goal each year.
Good luck with it all.
Oh, and BUMP.

My main goal will be to pare down the want list of OPC baseball cards by at least 20% (sits just over 1000 now). I also have a couple of 1970s Topps sets that I would like to complete as they are missing less than 3 cards each (keep trying to find them in trade but usually get no response, not even a "Decline").
And if I could see my 400,000 card For Trade pile go down by 25% that would be great!!!
Ok, I'll stick to achievable goals.

My goal would probably be to bump up my collection at least another 2,500 cards. Another goal will be to finally get my whole PC uploaded. Also, try and get rid of a bulk of my duplicates.

Maybe if I put it in writing, I'll actually accomplish 1 of them. I have a lot pending/in progress I'd like to finish. There are some I'd like to start. All of these are regarding organizing or cataloguing.
- Last summer, I bought the Birmingham Barons (baseball AA) team sets from 2005 to 2017 (with DaClyde). So far, I've verified 5 of the sets and scanned them in. I would like to finish the other 8.
- Now that multiple collections are available, I started entering my actual Phillies collection. I knew many of the team sets, so I have a large chunk of the cards in there. So far, I've only gotten through one binder (of 9 total). I would like to finish the other 8.
- I have all but 2 of the 25 Hudson Valley Renegades (baseball A short season) team sets (started in 1994). I started verifying the other 23 checklists and scanning in those sets (I think I've scanned in 3 or 4). I would like to finish those (and replace a bunch of very washed out scans another member posted).
- I have a bunch of inserts and parallels (along with a smattering of base cards) for all teams in baseball. Some are already sorted, many are not. I want to get them sorted, scanned (if needed), and moved (traded or sold).
- I've scanned many of the player collections we have (Daulton, Burr, Lapointe, McCarty), but I haven't looked at Clarke & Parent, or Coffey. And I know I have a lot of scanning to do for the Yzerman collection we have. I'd like to get through those. (As well as add the collections to the database,)
- I'd like to finish my autographed cards list (most of that will come as a result of cataloguing the Phillies cards I have, as most of what's left lurks in those other 8 binders.
- I keep saying I want to clean up the Star Company sets on here. In the process, I would like to clean up the Star Company stuff I have in my possession.
- Scan all the cards leftover at that point that still don't have scans on here.
- Get my baseball HOF collection entered here.
- Get the baseball HOF extras available for sale/trade entered on here.
- Get my baseball "Stars" extras available for sale/trade entered on here.
- And most immediate, pull the Trammell cards from my commons boxes. Find any cards that he shared with other players that are collected in this house.
When I mentioned a while back I have a lot going on, I meant it. Only the Trammell was added to that since then. I will wait until January to pull the Trammell cards, as there may be another surprise player to pull (to me) when the other voting is revealed.
Edit was to fix grammar and spelling and a clarify a couple of other thoughts.
