I have never heard of him OCHawkeye, but I still enjoyed reading your little tale. Read like a page from a novel.

Blame the Mandela Effect on The Berenstain Bears. LOL. OH and avoid YouTube. That is where the Mandela Effect thrives, especially the alternate reality theory aspect of it. One of the most bizarre and "unexplained" ones is the one about the Comedian Sinbad appearing in a Genie Movie in the 1980s. Turns out people remember seeing him in a Genie outfit from a hosting gig he did for a cable TV station's Sinbad the Sailor movie marathon.
I used to mix up the 1969 Topps Larry Haney UER mirrored image with the Randy Hundley card from that same year. Thinking it was Randy's card that had the error, or that there was the error and a corrected card, where there is only the uncorrected error. I think things get complicated by the fact that the Haney photo is from 1968 and is correct on that year's card.

It's happened to me personally. For many, many years I was sure that the Star Wars cards my brother gave me in 1988 were the first cards I ever had...but then I mentioned it to him, and he said that they were given to me after I had the 1988 Bigfoot cards. I had believed it was the Star Wars cards from the late 80s to around 2014.
Likewise, I discovered the NBA in 1996. For many years I believed it was the last day of the regular season. Then I found basketball-reference.com and it lists out each and every game. As it turns out, the last time the Knicks played the Hornets was Valentine's day! In retrospect, it makes total sense that way. It also explains why I was getting a gift that day...I discovered the sport because my mom gave me a pack of 1995-96 Fleer series 2. I remembered seeing games with players who changed teams after that season, but the memories are stronger than what a single playoff run would create. Then I knew why that was. Eventually, starting Christmas 1998, I began to document my collection and now I don't have that problem anymore. I just have to check my records and it tells me exactly when I got my cards. It also led to the creation of Cardboard History, an extension of documentation.
I have a theory that I remember the last day of the regular season because I got my first wearing jersey that day. I know where I got it but not exactly when. I figure that the last day of the regular season must stick in my head for some reason. There's no way to know. I was 11 years old and didn't keep any records yet. But I know the day is important and that fits. (Unfortunately, the jersey doesn't fit anymore, but I still have it)

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. At some point, a rock band will name itself Mandela Effect.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Are you sure it won't be The Mandela Affect? I always get the spelling of those two confused, not to due to Mandela, but due to my own stupidity.

Or, The Mandella Effect? That's how I try to spell his last name most of the time.

I seem to remember you guys spelling it right, but now you spell it wrong. The Mandela Effect is real!

I always get those confused also. I tend to use Effect for every instance of the word. Then when I try to use Affect I'm not sure if I'm using it right.

I do believe that .......
effect = what the "thing" does and affect = how what the "thing" does, does to you.
Agree?

I recall that Mark McGuire was actuall Mark McGwire. This is because I used to recall Dan McGwire in the 1991 Pro Set football set.
