Picked up a hobby box of 2018 Topps yesterday from my local card shop. I am about halfway through opening the cards, and one thing that stuck out to me was that the Gold parallels aren't as nice this year They don't really have any shine to them and even the serial number on the back is just printed with ink. Kind of a let down because the Gold I pulled this time is of Mike Trout. My Gold parallels are usually of middle relief pitchers and utility guys so kind of lame that the time I get a superstar they went cheap on the cards.
Either way, been fun to open so far, I will probably finish tonight or tomorrow.

Picked up my Jumbo box from my semi-local card shop. Opened 2 packs las night and 1 this morning. Already found the 2 relics but not the auto. Nothing special yet but I do like the card fronts so far. Not so much the backs. Did pull the Rafael Devers SP but it was not in the checklist yet this morning when I looked.

That’s a shame. Good find though, and hope I get so lucky when I go and buy my cards. The stores here are a little slow and haven’t gotten the cards yet, but soon.

I received my jumbo hobby box yesterday and my son came over to assist with the opening. I agree, the gold parallel cards are very disappointing. 2 in my box, 5 rainbow foil and 1 b/w or negative, whatever they are called. 44 different inserts, 1 duplicate, and not a single Royal. Rats! I'm not impressed with the different insert sets either. I usually pick 2 to complete but may not this series. The 1983 cards look nice, but I really don't want to have to buy 90 (got 10 in the box) more for the set. My auto was J.D. Davis, of the Astros. My 2 relics were Addison Russell (Cubs) and a Gary Sanchez (Yankees) All-Star Medallion. The first time I've pulled a medallion type card. I'm going to list these on my for sale / trade here on TCDB. If interested let me know.

I like the front except that it covers the first letter of the player's first name. The backs are nicer to read, especially the font for the numbers, but I still wish the numbers were in the upper left instead of the upper right. I'd love to see a facsimile signature on the card, maybe on the back some day? I'm still bitter about the lack of complete stats. I truly hope this is temporary.
I do like the return of someone of superstar caliber at Card #100 (Giancarlo Stanton) and #200 (Andrew McCutchen) and of course #300 (Mike Trout). I also like that a Yankee is card #7.
Is it just me or does the cards stock feel a little thinner than in the past?

I actually thought the same thing about the card stock when I was toploading a few of them. Figured it was just me.

Mine jumbo box showed up today.
What a surprise when two identical USPS boxes were delivered each containing a jumbo box & two silver packs. I know what I'm supposed to do here and am fully aware that it makes me a terrible person even considering not calling the shipper to inform them.

If it makes you feel any better, I would have the same ethical debate. But it's possible that even if you called and told them, they might just tell you to keep the second one, rather than go through the hassle of returning it.
Of course, if you don't call them, you could get a curse put upon them where both boxes and silver packs contain the exact same cards...

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Speaking of packages getting shipped, that lot of cards I ordered back in October have finally been put together and are ready to ship. May have them by October, haha.
