Would it be possible to upload a checklist with known names but for the cards that are unknown, it list the card number but some sort of "TBD" designation? This would be extremely helpful on those oddball sets that don't have checklists anywhere. The TBD cards could show up in the To Do list and maybe folks that have or know of the missing cards can replace the TBD with the correct card name later on.
For example, I'm trying to cobble together the 1991 Pocket Pages checklist. I've managed to find most of them online (auctions, blogs, etc) but I'm still missing some (and I want to get it added so I can check off the Van Poppel in it).
So, I would want to submit (I do excel) a list like this:
1 |
Bob Gibson |
2 |
Pete Rose |
3 |
Darryl Strawberry |
4 |
Dennis Martinez |
5 |
Dave Winfield |
6 |
Jose Canseco |
7 |
Frank Thomas |
8 |
Rickey Henderson |
9 |
Brett Butler |
10 |
11 |
Will Clark |
12 |
David Justice |
13 |
14 |
Bo Jackson |
15 |
16 |
Joe Montana |
17 |
Royce Clayton |
18 |
Todd Van Poppel |
The checklist would be up, a cards 10, 13, & 15 could just be listed as TBD. When somebody identifies one of the unknowns, change TBD to the player and link the pid.
This would also really help get minor league sets listed.

Yes, this has already been done with other sets. Admin started allowing this a couple months ago with some great help from our favourite (have to spell it that way, he's in Canada) checklist adder, DaClyde. :)

I didn't know you could do that, sweet. That could help with that DAV set I was trying to get help with a few months ago.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested if in the info about the players (birthdays and such) if we added when players were drafted (year, team, what round)? I think it would be nice to see. If not that's cool, I just thought it would be fun seeing them in the bio's and maybe at some point seeing a list of players (with links) drafted each year.

TBD checklists. THANKS DaClyde!
And jupiterhill's player info is a nice idea and sort of in that realm of thinking, I've thought about linking each player to their Baseball-Reference (or whatever sport) page for quick reference.

Oops - I got confused - it was a hectic day at work - I probably shouldn't have been checking in on the forum while at work - but I can't help it - I like to read what everyone writes - and I like to help when I can. My bad!

I like this idea better than manually adding all that information into the database here.

With regard to the data cleanup, I'm not going to continue linking names while I correct them, it is just too many extra clicks. I'll leave that for later, once all the name fields have been fixed. I think there is also some subtle set naming changes that might be in order.
Would it be possible to somehow take potentially offending checklists offline, so that only people beyond a certain permissions level can see them until such time as those checklists have been cleaned up? That would keep them out of the public eye until they could be cleaned, validated and then re-published. Might be complicated, but it might also save the site from shutdown. I suspect any loss of in court would lead to the entire site being shutdown, in addition to substantial financial penalties, rather than being allowed to remove just the offending content.

I've noticed people putting Anaheim Ducks on the older cards where they were Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Looks like a lot of them too. If people would just be more careful about what they're doing, all this cleanup wouldn't be necessary.
