I think your forum response will go a long way with members here.  As I and others said before, I didn't feel comfortable passing judgement until the whole story has been heard.  

I will add as well that finding evidence of a fire may not be as easy as it sounds.  My next door neighbor's house burned down in 2017 and just out of curioisty I tried finding something online about it and found nothing.  There was also a huge house fire a few streets down from me a couple weeks ago and I found nothing out about that either.

I would really like to hear from the mystery member(s) who intiated this. They "why" they thought it was a scam and what research did they actually do? I did a very little bit of research on my own, and Jeff does not fit the mark of any scammer I've seen in the hobby. He does have a perfect track record of completing more than 10 trades a month, for example. Not saying somebody can't go bad, but that's way more effort than most scammers want to put in. I'm not seeing enough proof to decide either way...but I have a "gut feeling". 

Good post Billy. I am going to throw out a couple things too in defense of Jeff and I am still holding out in judgement either way.

1. It goes a long ways that Jeff has responded here. I would think if he was trying to do what has been suggested it would be just as easy to not reply, take the cards that were sent, and then go away or create a new alias. Let's face it, thise things have happened.

2. It also doesn't seem to fit that Shaw Racing would take the time to enter over 150,000 cards into his collection if he intended to pull off a scheme such as this.

Let's keep open minds as this unfolds and I hope if Jeff is cleared I hope he is understanding that a lot of the skepticism here is because there have been scams in the past.

Regardless of the circumstanses here, personal attacks on any member or their family shouldn't be tolerated. I highly recommend you report these messages to Admin.

Also a very strange coincidence that the son's friend and his son share the same name (J.R.) and the same birthday (July 30):

I truly wanted to believe that the members who investigated this were incorrect, but there just seems to be more and more damning evidence against it.

Actually Dan my son is named Jeffery Ronald after me and everyone calls my son junior not J.R. that is one of the reasons they became friends in the first place And I never once said that That J,R.'s birthday was this month it was last month on the 30th mysons is this month on the 30th . I don't understand what that has to do with this? or are you just trying to make me look bad? 

switzr1 Guilty till proved innocent I guess, I have to be honest with all of you, It really hurts. I've always tried to do the right things and teach my kids the same, this was originally supposed to be a teaching moment for my Jason, My oldest son. unfortunately its taught him something else.
