#1 is partially done. I did the NHL but MLB and NFL still await breaking out. I did the NHL in January when I offically began collecting the sport.

#2 is still in progress. I am at 222,763 as I type this, but it will be higher than that shortly, taking a break from uploading to check the main page.

#3 I accomplished this one- every NASCAR card in my collection now has scans posted here both front and back, at least the ones I can find. I know I have more in my storage unit somewhere. I finished it the first week of March.

#4 I have worked on this very little. I started the year with up to 1994-95 done, I've since finished 1995-96 and did part of 1996-97 but no more. I need to work on this but scanning is so much more fun.

#5 I did this in January but then didn't keep up with it. I need to re-fix it. And then I need to keep up with it as new additions arrive. I don't know why this is proving so hard to maintain.

#6, my main goal on the year, turned out to be the easiest. I began it on January 2nd, and finished it on the 4th. I finally got a grand total of cards in my collection, which I know is not really accurate, but I'm using it. As of right now, June 13th, 2017, my total is 149,902.

Not really a goal but sort of- getting Elton Brand to 500 unique cards- has not happened yet but might. He is at 491 now and there are a few being held in my COMC box awaiting shipment...but I don't think it's 9 of them. I think 5 or 6 only, but I have more than 200 cards waiting to be shipped and I don't remember all of them, lol.

The goal I mention holding in reserve was announcing that I was adding the NHL to my collection. I did that on January 14th and began adding cards to my collection on January 15th, and have added them regularly since then- more from gifts from other collectors than purchases however. I actually went several months without purchasing a single NHL card but took in over 1000 that came from fellow collectors...thanks again everyone who has contributed!

I think for 2018 I need to set harder goals. I already know my main goal and it's going to be tough to do- I've tried it and failed in the past. I'm going to try again and I've sort of rigged it to succeed this time. More on that next year.

Not sure how I missed this when it was first posted, but I love the idea.  I am going to create a 2018 list and start thinking now about what I want on it.  Stuff like this is what I love about my website.  Ideas to make me enjoy and focus my hobby are one of my favorite things to pull off the forums!

I'm reviving this thread, because I consider us to be in the home stretch of the year. And, baseball card-wise, I've had a very successful one! The goals I stated back in December 2016:

complete 1970 and 1971 Topps baseball-likely -- done

-get 2017 complete Topps set-definite -- done

-get 2017 complete, non-short print Topps Gypsy Queen set-definite -- done

-try to get as many of the 5 tobacco cards I'm missing from my Merkle's Boner collection. -- got 'em all

-some other semi-random old cards-a 30s Durocher, a 40s Boudreau.-- got a 30's Durocher, and a card from the 20s and the 19aughts, and now the 1940s. Which means I now have at least one card from every decade of the 20th and 21st centuries. Which I think is really cool. 

-significant progress on 1968 and 1969 Topps baseball. -- very much so

-some other random fun. -- done, mostly the 2016 Cubs World Series Set and the 100 Years at Wrigley Set.-oh, and maybe a Mecca double folder and a T207-unlikely -- got 3 T207s; Mecca double folder will have to wait until next year

- new goal set mid-year: move Cubs up from 5th to 3rd most collected team -- done and then some, with help from C2Cigars

Overall, an excellent year. They'll be a few more cards coming in and most likely holiday presents. Most importantly, I've really enjoyed the hobby this year, and kept my spending exactly within budget. And I even uploaded my first checklists here.

1950 Bowman Set (missing 1 card: #23 J.Robinson Complete)

Very little change for me, but I did get Elton over 500. And it did happen when I finally shipped my COMC order in August. I've since purchased 15 more cards of his on COMC but am waiting for some more of my duplicates on there to sell before I buy any more.

I don't think I'm going to hit 250,000 points this year. In the 230s now and it's already mid-November. I think I will make a very late change and shoot for 240,000 instead of 250.

I have decided that I am going to to with only one goal for 2018- which I will reveal on Cardboard History on January 1st. It's a project I've been planning for over 2 years, and some Database members have contributed already without even knowing.

I went 0-for-everything.  Hooray for me.

45 days left or so..., but I'm more than satisfied with this year!

Here is how I fared:

I like to complete a set of 2017 Topps and Update.  I buy a Hobby Box of Series 1, Series 2 and Update and I also buy hanger packs at Walmart, Target or Meijer for some trade bait and to try to fill in the gaps that the box doesn't complete.  I do like the First Pitch inserts and I'll chase them again this year.  (I completed Base and Update and the First Pitch, bummed there were no First Pitch cards in Update.)

I'd like to finish the 1969 and 68 Tigers that I need. Hopefully knock off a few more Tigers. Finished '68 and '69. Bought quite a few older Tigers. Hopefully finish '65 before end of year.

Complete my 1976 Topps set (I'm missing only 3 cards) Complete!

Get to within 5-10 cards of finishing my 1975 Topps set which means getting it down to just the expensive cards. I'm down to the expensive ones. 6 left to go!

Complete all the Lions teams sets from 1975 to present.  I'm still missing one from 1982 - #260 Eddie Murray LL Ugghhh.  2 card show left before end of year and I hope I find it.  I need 8 more cards from the 1970's mostly high numbers from 1972.

Get some more missing Topps Traded/Update sets before 2014. I finished 1984-1994, 1999, 2000, 2006-2008, 2010-2013. Didn't think I could do the 2011 Update set with the Trout rookie, but I did. This was my biggest accomplishment I think. Started the 2002 Traded set which will take a while to finish T1-T110.

I got into the Minor League sets of Pro Debut after getting a bunch of West Michigan Whitecaps team sets.  I'd love to get some of the remaining team sets I'm missing and I'll get into collecting these Pro Debut cards. Still hunting for Whitecaps sets I'm missing: 1997, 2000-2004 & 2007. Put HUGE dents on the Pro Debut sets. Missing one from 2013 (#6) and Cody Bellinger #46 from 2016. Put a big dent into 2010 and this will be my goal for 2018 to finish. Completed 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017.

And last but certainly not least, I'd love to make many more trades and help others fill their needs while I get a few in return.  I completed well over 100 trades in 2017 through this site. Thank you to all!

I've decided on a realistic goal for 2018.  Somebody else can start that forum up. Probably not until December though.
