Outstanding progress on your Traded/Update sets. I still can't find a 2011 M.Trout RC. For the 2002 Topps Traded Short Prints #1-110, I just bought a Chrome set and called it a day. The price for those cards are still outrageous.

Well my goals that I had were to stay alive and head above water. Done and Done. Economics are edging up a bit thankfully, this year I have work all winter and have added an employee back (starts tomorrow) the first one I have had in over two years. Was able to keep just a smidge of the hobby going. I just did a count last week, only 14 new Ranfords all year and 7 hobby boxes (4 not opened yet). I worked the Oiler rookies a bit this year instead after a few of my collecting friends on here sent me some great surprises. With those and the purchases I made this year 53 cards came off the wantlist. I did splurge on one RC this year and that was Leon Draisaitl's Young Guns card, paid 80 and I am sure it has gone up. Sadly the daughter moved back out and with that comes it own set of UGHS but other than that things are looking up a bit. Already booked work for spring too with two decks and bar/entertainment area for a couple of clients so before I make any hobby like promises to myself, I will simply say to chisel away the recession/downturn debt and if I have any left for the hobby so be it.

Looks like I did pretty good with what I posted last December. My goals were all related to this site, but for the actual cards, I added at least a thousand cards to my collection and traded away maybe twice that much.
* I finished adding ALL of my NFL cards to collections on here (still need to add a thousand or so scans though).
* I have kept the NASCAR collection completely updated and accurate, including all scans needed.
* And I started adding my MLB traders (done through 1992 and everything from 2009 to present, but still need to add some scans).
I also added tons of CL's for Racing cards and fixed some for MLB. I became the 8th member to join the 1K Posts Club here and also moved up to #23 in the Top Members List. PLUS, I added SEVEN 1/1 cards to my Jimmie Johnson collection! I'd say it's been a very successful year for me! I hope to keep it rolling in 2018.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I completed two of my MLB sets too. Both were missing 1 card, but had been missing those cards for MANY years! For anyone curious, they were 1992 Pinnacle Series 1 (1-310) and 2004 Flair (1-60). I think my only MLB sets that still need to be completed are 1993 Fleer Series 1 and 1998 Finest Series 2.

My goal as far as this site goes is to have my set collection and my individual player collection up to date so that I am not listing a card for sale or trade in one collection when I need it for the other (I have started doing this and have found doubles of 5-8 cards per player that I needed the card in the set). I know why this is but it is time consuming to get done. Once done, my HoF and star players doubles will be up for trade. In doing this, I hope to increase each of my individual player collections through trades.Succeeded in this venturewith twoID - sandyrusty and sandy's singles. My For Trade list on both ID are up-to-date and 75 trades so far with about 4000 cards going each way.
As for my setcollection, I will continue trying to complete my OPC sets. Some are close but some are a distant wish. Good thing I have a lifetime to do this in. I will also try to complete as many other sets that I can, especially those that are close to compeltion. Of the 30 years of OPC sets (31 sets if you count the 1981 grey back parallel) 17 are complete and 3 others are missing 10 cards or less. I am missing 1064 cards total from all of the base sets + 1 parallel, a reduction of about 300 cards from last year. Through trades here on this site, I have completed several other sets though still have a couple of Topps 70s sets missing a card in each.
And lastly, Hopefully I will continue to make trades on this site with all of you and therefore see my pile of 400,000+ cards diminish in size. This year was a good year with over 5,000 cards sent out for cards that I did not have in my own collection. Though yes I made many trades, big and small, the pile has not diminished but actually grown through some lot purchases. Good thing I have a huge house and the kids have moved out.
-------------------------------
I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie. I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).

RtD87 - That's funny - I did the same thing. After being out of getting baseball stuff from about 1993 thru 2012 (was into college, marriage, hockey cards, and then having a small kid, now that he's a big kid we could do cards again, probably until he hits college), I jumped back in saying "Let's fill in all the Topps sets, including all the traded/update sets!" Had no idea.
Bought that chrome set, and said, now we're done. Not spending that kind of money on artificially "rare" cards. (Heck, not spending that kind of money on any cards!)

I'm gonna have to get the story on 2002 Update sometime, because I have no clue what you guys are talking about.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

2002 Topps Traded: Cards 1-110 were SPs (1 per pack) while cards 111-275 were 9 per pack. Even in the HTA packs (35 cards), they were 1 per pack. I paid nearly $2 each for the Phillies I wanted for my Phillies collection that were in the 1-110 range.

2002 Topps Traded set was the all-time most expensive Traded/Update set until the Mike Trout RC came along. 2001 and 1982 were probably next in line.

I didn't come anywhere near my goals. RoundtheDiamond87 you started this forum post in dec 2016. about five days after I posted that I could help you with the Trout RC since I had two of them. The ironic thing about two months after that I traded it to another member sorry but you could have accomplished that goal before 2017 started.
