I'm not sure if I have the ability to change this yet or not but should this set nto be called "Fleer Ultra" not "Ultra". If it should be then can somebody please do so for me. It is called that at the UD site.

Many Fleer Ultra sets are simply called "Ultra". I know I have searched for football Fleer Ultra and could not locate it, only to find it listed under plain "Ultra".

Thats just plain bizarre lol ..... all the Upper Deck items are listed as "Upper Deck ....." yet its not Fleer Ultra, heck even the card's logo is Fleer Ultra. Plus now that Upper Deck owns them you would think it would be even more long winded such as "Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee" or "Upper Deck Fleer Ultra" But I may just be babbling here. Was just taught over time that things should be as accurate as possible to the product. I mean it had me confused in the past month, and obviously you as well. So it would only make sense that it should possibly be changed. It would be great for Admin to chime in here as it would only make sense that it is as simple as possible for new people (heck us "pros" as well) to find something.

Also, I just noticed that under 14-15 that it is Fleer Showcase (I'm blind I guess) and when I look at the cards it is the same logo as Fleer Ultra. Just to strengthen my train of thought above.

Ultra sets are usually just called that b/c there is no Ultra set that isn't Fleer Ultra. It's the same as SP products not being called Upper Deck SP, Upper Deck SPx, or Upper Deck SP Signature. With Fleer Showcase, you have to put Fleer in the title b/c there are other brands that made Showcase sets (Press Pass, for one).

As much as I hate to admit it, it looks like we're simply following the way Beckett lists these sets on their website and in their magazines. (We also have plenty of cards listed in the DB with A, B, C, D, etc. in the notes to denote the odds - even when such odds are next to impossible to know these days, but I hate to remove the ABCD because they are listed that way in Beckett (and subsequently sometimes on ebay) and it might lead to confusion.

Yeah, some of those Fleer sets are like that, especially during the buyout year. SkyBox falls under them and sometimes you'll find Reflections listed itself and not under UD. I think part of the reason is just a numbers game for corporate side- who knows

I agree with all on everything above, but I think that is possibly more of a "just because its always been that way" kind of thinking. I know exactly what SP and SPx are too but then why (in 14-15) are there nine products that have to have Upper Deck in front of them? Are there that many companies out there using the same descriptives? I see what your saying as kind of like this ...... these cars are just called Mustang or Corvette because only one company makes them so its obvious.
But like vroomed says, sometimes its just following what has always been done. I always like to think of the DB here as a library ..... what would a library do? The way it is on here? If we are listing things as they are officially suppose to be, just because there is no other product that uses Ultra should we stay with what is being done now and has always been done?
Like I said thats why I think it would be good for Admin to pop in and help define this. I am fine with it just the way it is and will live life to its fullest regardless, just doing my part voicing my thoughts from time to time.

The main reason I would leave like it is would be to save confusion or a lot of work. If someone changes one to add Fleer to the title, then every set in every sport (and non-sport releases) from 1991 to present would need to be changed too. I'm sure that is more than 100 different sets. JMO.

I also say "leave it". Even someone as untrainable as I has learned to look under "Ultra".
