Good idea for a list. I'm sure there are others, but I'm too lazy to go find them. You've done nice work here, though. v3
Thanks Vvvergeer. The first dozen or so cards are the ones that I thought of off the top of my head. There are definitely more, and I just found an old forum online in regard that will help. I'll be adding more very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the list eventually reaches 100 cards.
Love this list. Here's one to add.
| ||
Thanks for the add-on Jack, and I'm glad you enjoy the list.
Fritz Ackley had a 1964 Topps Rookie card with Don Buford and a 1965 Topps Rookie card with Steve Carlton
Thanks for the add Josh, I'll have those two cards on the list here shortly. Fritz Ackley, the dude with the unibrow...
You're welcome Joey, btw a lot of players from the 2005 Update and Highlights set have prospect rookie cards and then rookie cards later like: Verlander, McCutchen, Braun, etc.
The 75 Whitfield also features Ed Armbrister, who was on a 74. Both Derrek Lee cards also feature Ron Wright ( on two different teams), which I though was funny. Great list. Multi player rookie cards are probably my favorite of all cards. Others I thought of are Jerry Don Gleaton 80-81 and John Butcher 81-82.
Thanks for the recommendations switzr1, I just added them to the list. It's cool to see some 80's cards on the list now too.
Awesome. My collecting started with 1981 Topps, so it will always be my favorite. Glad to see it represented on this fantastic list!
Chris Pettit 2010 and 2011 is the set of these in my collection that I can think of. when I got the 2011 card, i was quite confused. Didn't know Topps allowed that, but i've learned much lately on their exceptions. (there seem to be many)
Nice catch there DarkSide830. In my mind, I always consider the first issued RC to be the true rookie card. I have no idea why Topps would designate certain players to have multi-year RC cards. Like Bill Davis on this list for instance, he leads the league with a total of 5 rookie cards. Why? What's even stranger is that players such as Paul Ratliff and Wally Wolf have a rookie card one year, and then several years later they have another one. And as you have pointed out with Chris Pettit, it still happens today. There has to be a reason, I just don't know what that reason is. There are definitely a lot, that's for sure. I'll be adding the Chris Pettit on here soon, that's a great example. Thanks for checking out the list. |
