Year: 1994

Set: Stadium Club - Bowman's Best Refractors (Rate)

Card: #10 Drew Bledsoe

“ A lot going on here. I don't like a lot of it. ” -muskie027

“ I'm sure the weird Aztec looking background is foiled or semi-foil as Topps likes to make Bowman's Best all chromey. Ah Drew Bledsoe he had the unfortunate luck of being severely injured during the season the Patriots would win their first Super Bowl with his backup QB Tom Brady. ” -captkirk42

“ I am hoping it doesn't look this bad in hand but this is one terrible looking card front. The back isn't as bad but not good either. I would give the front a 2 and the back a 4. Poor Drew Bledsoe, got injured, Tom Brady took his place and the rest, as they say, is history. ” -davidhandberry

“ The card seems a little busy, but it could be just the scan. ” -kirkscards

“ Now that is a cool looking card. I'd like to see one in person because I'm sure it's even nicer. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I really liked this set at the time. Probably don't own any now. What if this guy had never gotten hurt? Realistically, his injury could probably be considered on the same level with Wally Pipp's. ” -switzr1

“ Bowman's Best or.............not quite so good. ” -Gunny

“ Interesting design on this card, kind of reminds me of the Coyotes kachina design for some reason. ” -Tylergallo

“ MY EYES ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ I prefer simpler designs and thus, find this one waaay too busy - even gaudy. Surprisingly, the Stadium Club line is usually one of the more photo-based of all. In other words, not a fan. ” -BigBadWulf

Don't have it to compare "in hand" but does appear to be rather "glitzy" in the scan here.

Not a huge fan of the design, but Bledsoe is one of my all-time favorites. Great player and a class act. He could have easily turned the Brady situation into something ugly, but he took the high road and is still actively involved with the Patriots organization.

How fitting. A Patriots card is RCOTD on the day of the AFC Title game.

And the guy who replaced this guy and led the Patriots to the Super Bowl all those years ago, has just led the Patriots to the Super Bowl again tonight.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

BOO! At least now I don't have to watch the Super Bowl.

Thought I must say I did like Drew Bledsoe and have a card from this set, but don't like this set.

I may or may not watch.  I don't like either team at all.  Could be a really good game though.

How can SB LIII NOT be a good one?! Two of the 4 highest scoring offenses this season facing off against each other. The term "Defense wins Championships" didn't apply this season as all of the fnal four teams were the Top-4 scoring offenses. Now it's the NE veterans vs. the LA newbies! I say NE wins by a touchdown. BUT I thought it would be NO vs. LA Chargers a few weeks ago. LAC blew it bad against NE last week. Both of the Conference Championship games were fantastic battles today though! You can't beg for better games as a football fan, unless your team is one of them.

I guess I need to tie that reply into this card. Drew Bledsoe was the reason I started rooting for and collecting Patriots cards when they drafted him in 1993. I started liking them b/c they had the most horrible uniforms in the late-80's. But then I started liking some of the players (like Irving Fryer). Then they got Bledsoe and later got Curtis Martin. I was all-in rooting for them against anyone but the Packers and then the Panthers when that franchise started. I'm still a Pats fan. I looked today BEFORE the AFC Championship game to see what Beckett has listed for my 2 Brady RC's. The Impact RC is now at $60 after being at $25 for a decade. The UD Ultimate Victory SN2000 RC is listed at $200 after bouncing b/t $100 and $150 for the past few years. I pulled that card from a $3 pack that my Grandma gave me for Christmas that year and held on to it since then JUST because it was a Patriots card.

To wrap this up, I like the Bledsoe BB Refractor card. It "could" be better, but I like it the way it is for the time is was produced.

I'm not discounting it won't be a good game, it will be a great one.  Honestly, it could be the best ever.  Also I'm sure on that day I'll decide to go ahead and watch and won't be disappointed. I'm just not a fan of the Patriots, though I do respect Brady even though at times I probably shouldn't. (Though I've never been a fan of Edelman or Gronk).  I also don't have any beef with the players on the Rams, but cannot stand their owner Stan Kroenke.  Let's just say I have a unfriendly 4 letter word I like to say everytime I hear or say his name.  It has more to do then just moving the Rams from St. Louis, I'll leave it at that.  Factor in also I'm not a fan of Maroon 5 and this game has a lot going against it for me.

Having said all that, I'm not as disappointed as many Chiefs fans who really thought they had a chance at winning it all this year.  Like I said in 2014 when the Royals made the playoffs- anything beyond the wild card game was just icing on the cake.  The Royals playoff drought was very long and just making it was a huge step.  The Chiefs have been luckier making it to the playoffs, but stink once there. So making it to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1993 was a huge step and hopefully get's the monkey off the back of the team and players.  I think if the offense can have similar results and the defense gets a little better, they can be back for years to come.

Oh, the card.... Um... for a short while Bledsoe was my favorite QB, and I was actually a Pats fan for a few years, probably until the late 90's, just before Brady came in.  I liked their helmets, but honestly, it would be cool if they wore throwbacks in the SB this year.
