Yeah, I read that earlier today, too. Since I'm up here in Jersey (from Texas) often, I told my son I may have to hang out at that store in Greece, NY.

Thanks for sharing. My two cents:
1) I'm not showing this to my wife or daughter, it might give them ideas with my cards.
2) If anyone is willing to pay $250 for those Dale Murphy cards, please contact me asap. They will be in the mail the next day.

Even the 89 UD reverse negative Murphy can be had for less than $30. It MAY book at $50. I don't know of a Murphy card that books at triple digits.

Pains me to see a statement like that. Someone's estimating capabilities aren't even close to realistic. I would hope that a news story would use better research tactics than just taking someone's word for it or using a 1989 Beckett.
Cool idea to do with some "junk wax" (as always, term used subjectively) cards though; I know that I would have been much more enthusiastic about grocery shopping with my mom as a kid if I knew some cards might fall into my lap.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

In an attempt to unload thousands of junk wax commons, I have done the same thing. I usually throw 20-30 cards in a resealable sandwich pouch. I leave them at ball games, usually where the condiments are. I try to leave them where kids will find them, maybe they will start collecting. I've left them in elevators, even in church. Kids love finding anything. I could not think of a better way to unload these worthless cards.

It is stories like this that will end up with someone finding cards from when they were kids and toss up a 1987 Topps Rafael Palmeiro for $250 on Craigslist and then tell everyone who inquires that they know the value of what they have and don't even try to talk them in to selling it cheaper.

So... The question here is... Who is the guy that put the $250.00 value on the Dale Murphy card? Not, who is the person leaving the cards...

That brings up a question... Which cards from 1979 are worth owning from a collectible standpoint? I'm weird with 1979 stuff because its my birth year. Pennies nickels dimes quarters... I save them all, SOMETIMES! Just because they are 1979. So, I need to start a new collection of 1979 cards.Thank you @ Corny! That's what I need, another collection... lol
I need to sell my 1990 Score Traded set on Craigslist!

Ozzie Smith Topps and O-Pee-Chee Rookie Cards are 1979.
