Hi there jp,
The National is the National Sports Collectors Convention. You can google for more information. It's a multi-day event held every summer. This year it's in Chicago. I've been to one, when it was held in St. Louis in maybe 1995 or 1996. Everything you can imagine is there, somewhere. If you collect and have time you should try and attend. Even if you have little or no money to spend it is an amazing sight to see.
Hope you can go.

I went to the May Canada show in Toronto last year and it is on my bucket list to get to a National show one day. I don't know about this year yet.
Switzr was that picture taken in the Henry Ford?

I've been to these national's:
2003 Atlantic City
2009 Cleveland
2010 Baltimore
2012 Baltimore
2016 Atlantic City
2018 Cleveland
I drive, so I haven't made it out to Chicago yet. I always find something I need. Worth going if you haven't been to one yet.

The distance would kill me, drove a few hundred miles from there this summer but alas its a NO here. Western Canada shows only!! Plus my wife is upstairs planning my 30th Grad Reunion stuff right now, we are all headed to Vegas. Our planner has picked the LINQ I think its called. Looks pretty nice but the prices online make me wanna vomit. Hopefully she has negotiated a good deal. Sure hope the year picks up!!!
On another note it freaking cold here right now. -28C plus chill. It suppose to reach -42 to 45 with chill for morning. School bus has already cancelled for morning. Brrrrrr!!

OBX: Yes on the Henry Ford. Good eye!
Bounty: Impressive list. Mine is
- 1998 Chicago
- 1999 Atlanta
- 2002 Chicago
I'm long overdue for a return. I was actually in Cleveland while the 2014 show was going on, but with a friend passing through on our way to Gettysburg, and there was no time. Actually the same friend who took the picture of me that OBX asked about.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Ranford, that's cool. Have you ever been to Las Vegas before? Should be a fun time. Don't be throwing Ranford cards down on the craps table as bets though!

My first, and so far only, National was Atlantic City, 1988. It doesn't look promising for this year, but I could see myself at the 2020 in AC.

NEVER been to Vegas! I know there is a few places I'd love to hit. There is a huge sports mem shop I do believe as well as a huge toy and collectibles place. Dan Franco is the headliner at the LINQ (he won one of the AGT seasons) and they have the largest zipline on the strip, 10 person wide. So much to do .................... it from Oct 10 to 15, 2019. Ranford cards would be like pocket dueces Id say! ROFL

Went to the Cleveland National last year, had a great time, it was my first National. Turned in a bunch of cards to the nice people from COMC. It turns out I forgot to print out my submission slips. The one feller there was kind enough to allow me to log onto one of their computers to print them out. So I begin to log in, he turns away as to not see my log in info. He turns around and says, "You're Gunny?!" I says "In the flesh, why?" He then begins to tell me that he is the manager (or some such thing) of the card identification department. I am then informed that a great many of my cards end up on his desk for id purposes because no one there is really well versed in soccer cards and some of the cards I sent in drove them nuts. We all had a nice chuckle and a great day all around.

With the Canadian dollar worth 10 cents US, we can no longer afford to enter into the United States.
