I couldn't find a year of issue for this set either. The guys at non-sport.com have a date range of 1900-1919. They have been wrong about coffee cards before though.
Interesting....this set has two entries in the ACC; ACC# H763 and ACC# K149.
Also, here's an interesting blog that interprets the images on the card fronts.

As far as adding a set without a known year......I don't. To me that means someone will have to fix it later. I add a lot of vintage tobacco and trade sets. If I don't know the year (or at least an arguable guess) I don't list it. I have several sets pending more research.
I've heard/read that Admin was considering adding a "circa" feature for dates. That would be beneficial for vintage sets, although it may give some an excuse to skip the research.

I'm pretty sure Bob is not doing any of that stuff....just in case someone thinks what he's saying is the way to do things (it's not).
I think he's just baiting an argument.

Not exactly, as spaz said range of dates, and that I have done, and is found throughout the TCDB listed by other members.. So I did my research after I did my research. What sets they are?, I don't know, so if 1 crosses your path, I guess IR it. Most listings I did are within 1 year, like Hockey, '75-'76. ? I've used like 198? or 198x but that was back in the beginning, I wouldn.t have any idea now.

Currently in the process of getting a checklist or as much information from a company that mentioned to me that many of their records were destroyed by a hurricane.

I guess if any new golf sets are ever issued, they should start using this too. They started a wraparound schedule from Oct-Sep in the 2013-14 season.

No to MLS Billy. Most overseas Northern hemisphere leagues do operate as fall-to-spring, but MLS is spring-to-fall.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I believe that date range is incorrect because most Victorian trade cards went out of style by 1902, with the new collecting being either Post Cards. Of course, tobacco cards at that time kept their appeal, especially sports ones, and collectors still went after those.

This was Admins reply:
"You can go with a date range like 1880-89, then add a release note stating that the exact year is not known."
Since I have gotten more info on this thread and more avenues ti research, I am going to keep researching for now to see if I can get a more accurate time frame first. A lot of Victorian Trade Card sets are near impossible to nail down a specific year, and many were printed over many years, but for this set you guys have given me more areas to research. Once I am satisfied I cant go any farther, then I will list the way Admin approved.
