I'm curious on how many of you collectors try to get every card made of a team. I collect Topps, only Topps. I try to get every card Topps made for the Boston Red Sox. I do have exceptions, only because it is impossible. If a card is below 999 on a print run or if its the same card picture, a parallel.
Happy collecting!
Bruce

I’m a set collector but the current or former Tigers are usually the first cards added to my want list when I open up a set on here.

I have a goal of getting every card printed of anyone who ever played any sport for Ohio State, but would not consider it a failure to not have a card with a stated print run of 50 or under. Those would be bonus for me. I have a similar goal for my favorite teams; STL Cardinals, Columbus Bluejackets, Celtics, Chiefs, some others, but I am slower in building those collections than I am the Buckeyes.

I collect mostly regular Topps New Orleans Saints. My goal is to have all of them except for printing plates, the platinum 1 of 1's, and most of the other 1 of 1's. If I found one of them I sure would try and get it, but the odds are against me. I have branched out to oddball Saints cards, like food or store brand cards because I am at the point where I may not see any Topps cards that I need for months on end. I have also started looking for any Saints card before 1990.

Mostly a set collector! Currently want to complete the 1991 Topps Archives (1953 Topps), but the collation is horrible with the box that I just busted from a Case gotten from the CASE BUSTERS of Rockledge, Florida (near where We are moving in two weeks). TOPPS did not do Collectors any favors . . .

I have a(n impossible) goal of getting every Red Sox card made. It will never happen, but I will chase those I don't have. I prefer base and parallels over inserts and LOVE oddball stuff including team issue cards and vintage. I don't chase low serial numbered cards, but will pick them up when the price (or the trade) is right.
Currently there are approximately 160,000 different Red Sox card from 1901 until now. My current count just passed 49,000, which puts me at around 30% of all Red Sox cards.
With today's explosion of parallels and serial numbered cards, the are over 110,000 serial numbered cards, 37,000 of which are one of ones. Subtracting one of ones I've got over 40%.
Keeping a positive outlook, that means there are still 70,000 different Red Sox cards out there for me to find!

I know realistically I'll never get every Royals card, but if I have at least one card in a set, I'll try to get the rest of the team set. I don't plan on every getting 1/1's or printing plates, but it would be nice to get a few. I think you have to set your goals high or else if its a realistic goal you might stop collecting or at least not be as inclined to keep up.

In theory I want to. But it's not realistic, especially for someone like me who collects many sports. I just opened a pack of 1991 Bowman football a minute ago, and pulled 2 Buccaneers. That was exciting to me. Keith McCants and Reuben Davis. I think I need them both. And I'm with you on the parallel thing; if the design and picture are the same, it seems like the same card to me. So those are a lower priority unless super cheap. And I hate printing plates. And I don't buy expensive modern stuff. But there's enough cheap stuff I don't have yet, that I'll always feel like I'm making progress toward my goal.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I don't chase team sets per se, but my PC collection consist of the Boston teams or players born in the NH/MA areas. Anyone got some Sean DePaula's??? I am collecting set runs back to 1970. At first is was just baseball, but recently decided to do it for all sports (thanks forums, you got me on a vintage run!!!!). I've pretty much caught up with all the stuff I had sold off years ago. Stuff I'm missing now is more early 00's that aren't priority and are nice to haves (Leaf, Donruss, Ultra). There's nothing like the smell of vintage cardboard and nothing like going to a show and finding dirt cheap gems.
