Anyone ever find anything worth buying at the dollar store card wise? I saw some packs of 2019 Donruss football the other day and almost picked 1 up. I'm not into football cards more of a baseball guy and maybe 10% basketball but if it's a good deal I wouldn't mind it to start slow buying packs again. Are these ever worth it? Do they contain same cards are the more expensive packs? Will they ever have inserts or parallels?
Or should I just always skip? Intrigued me as I haven't bought a pack in 20 years but might start back up really slow and would be cool if I could start at $1 without it being a total waste.

I saw those at dollar tree earlier this year but passed. I figured your odds of getting a higher value card were pretty low and I thought there were only 3 or 4 cards in a pack?

The Dollar Store by me ceased carrying baseball cards, but I used to buy several packs of the 30/per pack repacks and it built up my commons inventory and added a few to my personal collection, too. It's a fun way to enjoy catching up with the hobby, but don't expect big ticket cards. I've yet to find a HOFer in anything I'd ever bought from those.

I bought the $1 Dollar Tree packs a couple times. They are indeed only 3 or 4 cards, and never anything special. But that's a pretty small sample size - I've bought maybe three of them in my life? But yes. You're essentially paying $0.25 per card, if there's four of them

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I usually buy one or two of them when I come across them. I like them as I usually collect the base set of the local teams every year. Nothing really other than the base. Like Joshua, I like those repacks too. Sometimes I got lucky and found something in the early 80s, but mostly it was for the commons inventory like he mentioned. "Decent" for a dollar, nothing special.

My suggestion for someone starting back up real slow. I would probably start by just picking up some clearance packs at a place like Walmart. Seems like everyone has one nearby and it is a cheap way to pick up a pack here or there. If there are any local card shows coming up in your area someone usually has some junk era packs that are dirt cheap. They are great with all the great names, you probably won't find anything of great value but in many cases those packs are cheaper to buy today then back in the laste 80's and early 90's. If you start getting into collecting more I have found some nice collection pickups through Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. But to just ease back in those clearance packs at Walmart is pretty simple and inexpensive to start.

In my experience the best bargain at a local $ Store would be the repacks of baseball or hockey cards @ 80 cards for $4 Other hockey packs for $1 usually contain at most 15 cards and you'd be lucky to find anything worth more than a $1 a card. But for a few bucks at least you get a variety.

Seems like Dollar Tree is the only place lately to get any Panini Stickers and Albums around here. quit carrying most other packs

Dollar Tree has exclusive yellow parallels. They have been in 2018-19 Hoops and Donruss basketball, and 2019 Topps baseball. I do not know if they are doing it again this season, or if it was done in other sports, and my local Dollar Tree stopped carrying cards. They opened a new one closer to home and that one has never hard cards. The Dollar Tree packs do not have ANY other inserts or parallels, by the way, only the yellows, at least in basketball. If you like yellow, it's worth buying them. Since it's my second favorite color, I got a few.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Donruss Football 2019 has the Yellow cards. I have found a few Rated Rookies in the packs, but maybe 1 every 15 to 20 packs.
