Not being a hockey fan, and thus unfamiliar with the history of the NHL and the idiosyncrasies of rivalries and such, will fail to keep me from making a silly comment!
If you look at the stain on the Trottier card, I would suspect that the Spirit of Cardboard was sending an ominous message to either Hartford or San Jose. Looks like Trottier's holding up his catch.
