So often, the grass is truly greener on the other side. I went through a kind of similar circumstance in 2016 when my job of 18 years was no more. And I understand your sentiment of wanting to enjoy your "free" time, but not being able to. I was out of work for 3 months, and it felt like 30 years. And really, the last 3 weeks of that time was getting ready for the new "temp" job I had gotten (a consulting job 1,000 miles from home). So it was really only about 9-10 weeks. Still, felt like forever.
Fast foward another year (2017), and I got the job where I am now. It, like ANY job, has it's ups and downs, but a lot more ups than where I was for 18 years. Great people and a great company. Many times, the grass is greener on the other side. But so often, we're afraid to take that step.
I hope the rest of your job journey remains similar to my story, and you find that your new place to work is as nice of an environment as mine has been. All the best!!!
