So since 2001, well maybe 2002, there has been a card I needed on ebay. It is of a lower tier now retired player. You know a player that only probably me and their family collects. The price of the card is well overpriced in my opinion. Now I have tried all the other routes and the card just doesn't come up. It has been the same price for all these years and has never sold. Any attempt at a lower offer gets turned down by the seller. Even a $1 cheaper (which I felt was too high too) was turned down. So should I bite the bullet and just purchase it?

First, what's the card? Personally, I've NEVER paid more than 60% of book value.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I would wait. Price should come down, if not let the seller eat it. Must be others out there unless it is a 1/1.

scour COMC, Sportlots, JustCommons or look for a trade here before you bite the bullet. Like NJ said, unless it is a 1/1 there is another one out there.

It's a Rashard Anderson Limited card. I have tried most of the other sites looking for it. I think no one lists him because he was well a no name player.

what year/brand you looking for?
i admit, i've been guilty of paying a little more on certain cards, like 1 of #. but avoid to at all means. there's always one that pops up at some point in time in your price range.

Being sold by Burbank Sports Cards? I don't deal with them, everything is way overpriced, including the shipping.

Yep. I see it that way too. I also hate how they always use stock pics. Never know what exactly you will get

I guess I'm the odd duck here. The way I see it, if you had put away $1 every year that you've been looking for it, you'ld have it covered.
I know what you mean about collecting someone who's not a mega-star. I collect Ted Musgrave. My Musgrave want list is entirely populated with cards I have been seeking for 15+ years and have never seen. I'm sure that many of them are sitting in inventories of people who think they're just not worth selling. No matter how little they 'book' for, I'd happily pay $20 for any one of them just so that I wouldn't need to look for them anymore. I've got tighter price points on other stuff I'm collecting, but Musgrave is my core collection and I'd really like to see it done.
