They refer to it as his rookie card several times, even the auction guy says it. As we all know it's not.

It is becasuse it was graded SCG 9.5 I think drove the price so high

I was in the room when the guy spent $50,000 on it in 1991. The buzz was insane as the news made its way around the show. As a teenager spending his newspaper route money, I couldn't even imagine spending that kind of money on cardboard. Looking back...I wish I had convinced my mom to mortgage the house!
