I have a number of panels including magazine inserts, food issues, etc. Does anyone have what they think is the best method of cutting panels into individual cards to get the cleanest cuts? I prefer to keep panels intact but shipping them can be a pain in a trade and traders often are only interested in individual cards.

I've used a paper cutter (the guillotine type) for box bottoms.

My wife has a paper-cutter for scrapbooking that is very sharp and works well as long as the item is not too thick. Box-bottoms may be too thick but magazine cards should be ok. The paper-cutter has a bar that holds the item in place and a razor blade that runs along a straight line that cuts.
I too, prefer the whole panel that includes the team I am collecting (ultimately, I want both single and panel though).

I'm the same way. I'm chasing down all the box bottoms I can, both as singles and as a panel.

Odd that this comes up. I just last weekend was looking at some Card magazines I have picked up here and there. I've probably got 30 plus, all with Cards still in tact. I was wondering how to log, store, and manage them.

Just last night I went through a bunch of old magazines with card inserts and carefully tore the rest of the magazine away from the panels. I got tired of the bulk and weight the magazines were taking up and I don't know anyone who collects panels stil inside the original magazines.

You can use the slicer at your local Fedex store. It has a guide and rulers allowing for clean cuts. That's what I've used in the past. I just make sure to clean up after myself since I'm not paying for it.

This makes me wonder if libraries would have one that they would let people use. I would guess most kids rooms in libraries have them for projects.

I received some magazine inserts and Drakes cards last week that I want to trim down a little. I'm gonna go the boxcutter route I think, unless anyone knows any reason I shouldn't. Bad experience or whatever.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Unless you have everything surrounding the blade firmly secured, you risk tearing the paper instead of slicing through it.
