So normally I don't buy chrome sets that have a standard version, because sometimes I feel I'm just getting the same cards I already have again, although they are shiny now. Well on my pretty much routine now Friday night trip to Target, I got a blaster of 2017 Topps Chrome. I guess the itch to open something was too strong!
Well I am glad I bought it, at first just because I got a cool Prizm Refractor of Zack Grienke. But by the time I opened all the packs, I had pulled two on card rookie autos. The first was a Mitch Hanniger (former dback who I think has some good potential) and the second was a purple refractor auto of Roman Quinn.
Other than that I also got a handful of inserts and normal refractors as well.
Is it normal to pull two autographs, with one also being a serial numbered refractor out of a single blaster? Or did I just get lucky at picking a good box?

You got very lucky with that blaster! Congrats!!!
I have to say that you did not pull a Prizm card though. Topps has "Refractors" and Panini has "Prizms". I'm guessing by your term of "prizm refractor" that you got a Topps Xfractor parallel. Sorry to put out technical terms, but it has to be said. Topps has a patent on "Refractors" so Panini can't use that wording, just as Topps can't use "Prizms".
You did have a spectacular blaster break though! I would recommend NOT buying another one. You will only be disappointed b/c I doubt you will even come close to matching that one. Two AU's is extremely rare for a blaster from anything that isn't labeled as Leaf or SAGE!
Personally, I would rather buy a Chrome product from Topps/Bowman brand than the base versions. At least that way I have nicer-looking versions of the regular cards. I haven't been a fan of base Topps since about 1998 and Bowman since the 1992 MLB set (although 1998 and 99 Bowman were nice). I did really like the 2004 Bowman NFL set and the Bowman's Best and Bowman Platinum sets have been pretty nice off-and-on since their inceptions in any sport. I really miss Finest from the pre-2009 era when all the "hits" became RC AU's and manufactured or event-worn patches. 2008 Finest had an awesome design that Topps hasn't really reproduced with the same quality that the '08 boxes provided. After that year, Finest just became a hodge-podge of cards crammed in the same box. I'm getting off-topic now, so I'll stop now.
Bottom line is that your blaster was FANTASTIC!

When I saw "Prizm Refractor", it reminded me of a friend who would go into McDonald's and order a Whopper and ask for Big Macs at BK. "May I have the Whopper Big Mac please?"

Yeah like mheilenman said, they actually have a Prism parallel in this year's release, which is what the Grienke is. I thought it was weird as well, because I mainly collect NBA and I am so used to the Panini stuff. I did just realize however that they were tricky and spelled it differently. Panini has the Prizm with a "z", and this Topps parallel is a Prism with an "s".
Thanks for the replies back everyone, and Engine614, thanks for the interest but I am not looking to trade it. I like to keep all the cards I get and only trade out my doubles.

I guess I was wrong then. I didn't know Topps started doing that. It seems a little redundant to me since a prizm/prism and refractor are basically the same thing, not just when talking about cards either. Both items refract visible light into all the colors of a rainbow.

Cool box. I guess that if the odds are "true," you still have the same odds of pulling any insert from a pack, even if another pack in the same box already produced a rare pull. Congrats. In your shoes, I would never buy a pack of that issue again. Quit whilst ahead.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

DITTO! Try something else next time. You won't be happy with a 2nd blaster of that now.
