To clarify, for a complete set, no inserts are other chase cards are needed...it's just about the base set itself for completing a set (have all inserts, etc, and that is a master set).

This topic has me thinking.
I wish you could designate a set as complete in your collection so that it would show up in the completed sets listing even if you don't have all of what the database views as part of the base set.
This may even exist and I just don't know how to do it.

When I get my COMC shipment, it will include a Ric Flair card that will complete the Stomp Collection. Off the top of my head, this may be only the second set I've ever completed by buying or trading for the last card I need. In other words, I've bought complete sets, and I've bought packs/boxes and ended up with all the cards of a set without necessarily trying. But I can think of only one other time I've acquired a card specifically because I knew it was the only one I lacked (1987 Topps Mini Leaders Baseball - Mark Langston). Does this make me a set completionist? Am I like you guys now?

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I believe only base cards no errors unless you are going for a master set.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

Let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of PSA, however they do have pretty good logic when it comes to set completion. For example, to complet a "basic" set you can ignore cards that have an extremely short print run (1-3 print runs according to PSA's rules) and you only need one card for each "slotted" card regardless of the number of variations/errors.

Yes, a little box we can check for us to designate a set as complete would be most helpful. Then on our profile page there could be a link for us to see all of the sets we have marked as complete... that would be so helpful.
