So, of course, this led to a small project. All my complete sets are kept in binders. They are sorted by team. And within each team, I put the stars and my favorites first. But the unbending rule is that Hall of Famers go before any other players (Managers or Team Cards always leadoff.)
Anyway, first I noticed that Morris, despite his end of career reputation as a mercenary, has baseball cards on only three teams. He was basically a Tiger until the last couple of years. So I feel like that reputation isn't really fair.
Then I noticed that, pretty much from the very beginning, Morris was always the first Tiger in each set. So I didn't have to move many cards. But Trammell was less consistent. Generally, he was next or near the top, but not always. This was partially because I tried to keep him with Whitaker, but there were also some years when Gibson beat him out. And one early year when I placed him behind Lance Parrish, and Whitaker, and Morris, and Fidrych, and....Steve Kemp. Interesting.
Finally, handling those cards from the 80s made me happy. I was fine with plain ol' cardboard, not all glossy. It made the cards more...real...somehow. Ah, nostalgia.
Well, Trammell and Morris are the top two in all those team sets now.
