letting sportlots do the pricing is a great idea but its so innaccurate I think it devalues cards and shouldnt even be relevant.  case and point has always been these 18 cent tom brady cards that have never been found to be sold there. 

I was adding some ANTHONY EDWARDS cards today and found that a ROOKIE CARD of ANTHONY EDWARDS was valued at 18 cents. Nobody believes that an ANTHONY EDWARDS ROOKIE CARD SOLD FOR 18 CENTS!!

also when people from the site add credible sold prices with links from ebay, for example, the shipping price is included in the final sold value. why is sportlots any different??  This matters to me because when people use a trade value and its not adding up because of the misrepresentation by guess who... I think its misleading for people.

I know that trading is a compromise. sometimes we give more than we receive and vice versa. no big deal. so many deals have fallen through for me and others because of trades that seem one sided because of prices entered.

I'm not expecting a resolution here but answer me this. Where are these 18 cent TOM BRADY & ANTHONY EDWARDS ROOKIE CARDS AT??   I got $5,000 on all of them right now.

Can you point to an example? There is likely a legitimate explanation.

The 18 cent Brady card sales are from 10 or 20 years ago? (At least from what I found). The ones I saw have long ago fallen out of the card's price calculation, along with the $1, $2, $3, $4, $5 etc... sales.

As to the Edwards card. It seems low, but then depending on the release an Edwards RC, especially before the current playoff run, is what a $5 to $10 card? Hardly a fortune being left on the table. It could have been miss-listed, the seller may have just wanted to clear cards out or didn't know what they had.

Knowing the release and what date the sale happened would help explain a bit.

If you go to ebay and input the last 4-5 sold prices of the card on tcdb. 

One thing to point out (because all the other points regarding pricing have been rehashed too many times already) is the fact that any price reported by sportlots is an actual price realized in a sale that occurred. There is nothing fake about them. OP states "case and [sic] point has always been these 18 cent tom brady cards that have never been found to be sold there", these prices wouldn't be reported if the sales did not happen.

Bingo. If I think a price is exorbitant or under-represented, I get some Ebay sales inputted to at least provide more of a sample size. I will also echo what Dodgydave has said in that some prices mentioned are from many years ago before a player got huge. Adding more recent prices gives the TCDB median value more to work with for modern prices.

I'm a set builder, so when I find a key rookie or maybe trout or Ohtani in the set, I check sportlots to see what they are listed for there.  If the key rookies has 4 or 5 cards at .20 cents, then to me it's a .20 cent card.  If there's 4 or 5 cards averaging 2.50 a piece, then it's a 2.50 card.  I adjust my offer to reflect that in my proposal. Just check sportlots before accepting or proposing a trade to see what your cards and the cards you want are going for.  Sportlots is real time pricing, cards are bought and sold at .20 cents every day.  Beckett is still just trying to sell magazines!

One solution is just dont trade any of your Edwards or Brady cards for .20 cents, they're your cards, you DON'T have to trade them.  

Unfortunately we are stuck with the Sportlots pricing and it takes a lot of time and searching to bring the pricing of the star cards back to what most would consider reality. I’ also don’t like that the median pricing doesn’t update in all the different places you see it without clicking on the card and trying to refresh several times. There’s no reason to be able to see different values on the same card. Values should adjust nightly or some other choosen time.

Pricing should be an average of all sales and platforms.

I read unpopular somewhere .... and here it is, wind back to the late 80's early 90's I had a trade partner in Michigan I have long ago lost contact with not by choice but by the hater(ex-wife) of my hobby.

We NEVER pulled out any guides to check values whatsoever he would send me Canadiens and Expos, i would send him Red Wings and Tigers he would send me as good as he had and I sent him as good as I could but I always felt like he sent better cards than I did .

He never once complained because to him getting more manageable content for his area was better for him than Expos and Canadiens.

Here may lie the unpopular part, it's a hobby and the value in it is the fun I have going through stacks of cards and looking at them, transacting them, getting them to our partners that either need or want them. The prices we have attached to them are purely symbolic and only because we don't own the postal services of any country they are "valued" and or listed for between 20c and 1$.

have long ago been paid for and were acquired ridiculously affordable.

Nonetheless of course everything has value but remember prices and values start somewhere, not every athlete or their cards are all $ and there may always be sellers that will give it away for c
