ranforfan,
1. When I was posted in Edmonton and flew "night" training missions in the summer with a ful lmoon, it was never really dark. We would plan our take off at 1 in the morning yet we could see the ground from 1,000 feet just like it was daytime.
2. With your Xmas light setup, December 1 would look like daylight outside.
3. Dark curtains - that is what they use in the North where the sun never sets in the summer.
4. (Last) Every time I see you avatar, I wonder a. are you mad and about to blow? b. are you cold and shivering? or c. are you trying to squeeze out a ....?
We actually dropped below zero for temperature here last night. Ice on the horse's water trough.

I read an article recently about how utterly useless politicians are if they can't get rid of something so universally hated with no practical benefit in today's society. The 'saving energy' argument just doesn't hold water.

As someone that works in the evening, I like "Spring-Forward", but I hate "Fall-Back"! When 5pm becomes 6pm and daylight outside in the Spring, I'm happy with leaving for work in light. But when 7pm becomes 6pm and dark in the Fall, I hate it. Living out in the country really sucks when you go from a bright house to your car and start driving on very dark roads without time for your eyes to get adapted to the dark. By the time they adapt, I'm in the city and adaptation isn't needed anymore. At least coming home from work is always in the dark and by the time I'm out of city lights, my eyes have adjusted to lower light levels.
My Mom's work schedule is exactly the opposite though. She leaves in the morning and goes home in the afternoon/evening. But she wants the same thing as I do, light on the way to work and dark on the way home.
I'd be happy to do away with clock-changes but only if we stayed on DST year-round. I don't want to see the sun rising in mid-summer when I'm about to go to bed! I also don't want sunset in mid-summer to be about 11pm. For those that don't know my location (NC, USA at about 35 degrees latitude).

The shivering penguin goes back to a news story about how it got too cold for the penguins at some Canadian zoo, so the were taken to a warmer place. I think it was the same night that Ranfordfan's SK temperature was reported as being colder than the surface of Mars. And yes, I do enjoy his avatar!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

You could honor your friends here in the States and put on your Thanksgiving garb.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I am actually going to trivia night somewhere tonight, Ranford. Maybe they will have a penguin question.
