Could someone please enlighten me as to which is the proper way of listing Errors & Variations? The example I have come across is the listing for the 2010 Topps Baseball set (which shows a & b types), and the listing for the 2010 Topps Update set ( which shows only b type). I prefer the latter, but I have a feeling this site thinks differently.
Those weren't entered by me, just noticed.

Rules and Guidelines for TCDB Notes and Glossary Entries Revised through 10/20/2018
Rule IV: Using any of the following Notes will include cards in the Errors/Variations section of a set: ERR, COR, VAR. Whenever one of these terms is used as a Note, it must always be repeated in Note2 followed by a colon and a clear explanation. The COR version of ERR card xxx is typically numbered xxxa. Cards with actual variations instead of errors use the VAR Note with an explanation, and are typically numbered xxxa and xxxb.

Yep, I've always had trouble understanding legalease. I was just pointing out the discrepancy, I am probably not at a level where I could fix the wrong one. I still don't know which is right and which isn't. Good night, lol.

The trouble with using a...for base card is that it will show as an err/var , where as using b.. as first letter won’t show the base card in the err/var list..... I prefer leaving b as the first letter used only because I don’t consider the base card as being and err/var and it throws off the # of err/var cards per set...JMO

Funny, I was looking at some sets as well, from what I see guidelines for ERRORS and VARIATIONS are very confusing, NOT very consistent. It behooves ALL of US to fix sets as we come across them, I believe turn on editing and fix, fairly simple with a good consistent template to follow.
HOWEVER, as stated, "legalize" makes it difficult to follow, I would like to have an example shown, makes it so much easier to interpret. Think we can add an example that is consistent across the board for all ERRs/VARs.?

I believe you mean, legalese, not legalize. (That counts as an ERR/COR.)
