So according to "guidetogrammar.org", when it comes to name spacing and periods they have this to say.... "People's initials are usually followed by a period and a space —". J.D. Martinez or J. D. Martinez.....i have done both so would like to know if there's a standard so i can start fixing.

Also be aware that not everyone uses periods in their initials, or some shortened names like OG Anunoby don't have periods

For decades, there has always been a space after the "dot" in an initial. The idea of no space is a recent invention. For instance, J. R. R. Tolkien was the only way to write it for years. Now, out of laziness or convenience, the spaces are being dropped but not everywhere. This can be found in any book of grammar and usage. The dot symbolizes an abbreviation and is not there to precede another letter. And as Billy pointed out, it is not used here because it would be impossible to link to the correct PID. So here the space is omitted for convenience though grammatically incorrect.

Most grammar sources say you should put a space between, but it is not 'written-in-stone'. If you write out your first and middle names, you leave a space; the periods just abbreviate those names. Newspaper and print journals do not put a space so as not to break up a name between lines of type. I wouldn't put all my stock in what someone on social media does (my 0.02)
In the database, look at the first page of A. C. Green cards in gallery style. His first few Fleer cards change the style of how they printed his name.
The question is how would we determine a set style for all the cards on this site?

If we start writing like those on social media, not only will there not be spaces between the initials in a name, the spelling of so many words will have to be changed.

We go by the way the person wants their name to be, not if it's grammatically correct. If it's been J.D. for whoever, it's not our right to change that format on them.

I spend a lot of time reading old documents for genealogy, and old documents pretty much always use the space.
If you set up J. D. Martinez as an alternate name for J.D. Martinez, then either way would link to the same PID.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
