Would it be cool to be able to amend trade proposals after initially submitting?
My thoughts: I propose a trade to Person A. A few days later I propose a trade to Person B that includes one of the cards from the first proposal. Person B accepts. Now I would like to amend the trade proposal to Person A so it no longer includes the card I don't have, without deleting and creating a new proposal.
Pros? Cons?
One thing I can already anticipate would be the need to explicitly let Person A know that the trade has been amended.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and opinions!
Randy

I've had the same thoughts about being able to amend a trade proposal once sending it over. I don't even see it as a real con because just like every other aspect of a transaction an email should go to the other party advising a proposal has been amended.
The only thing I'd like, but realize it isn't realistic, is to be able to see what changes are made anytime a trade proposal has been amended. If you don't have a clear memory of what the original offer was you have no idea what was taken out or added. Again, not realistic to expect this feature.

You can change a Proposed trade up to the point of Acceptance. If the trade hasn't been Accepted yet, just Withdraw the proposal. Then open (Update) the Withdrawn proposal and make your changes and re-Propose.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

It doesn't hurt to submit the idea. Then we all get the chance to vote on it there, and submit feedback there. If we offer feedback here, Admin won't see it. If we offer feedback there, he will see it.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I would rather any cards in a proposal I make get "tied up" until the proposal is accepted or declined .That way I dont inadvertantly send a proposal to another person with the same cards.

I like this! It would be cool if it ended up in the strikethrough font format.

If I have to make a change to a proposal / counter, I always try to tell my partner what was removed and what was added. Makes it easier for both of us, and I believe is the right thing to do, this way nothing is " hidden" and the trade is vetted by both sides.

Good stuff! I appreciate your thoughts, ideas, and feedback. I may try my luck at submitting the feature, if for no other reason than to learn about that aspect of the site.
Thank you!

The answer is no, that wouldn't be a good idea. The idea is solid, don't get me wrong, but the problem is that of transactions and a computer science concept called "transactions." Essentially, the problem here boils down to this example: say that a userA logs on and sees an offer he likes, and he clicks on accept. But imagine just before userA clicked accept, the original trader, userB, edited the trade proposal. Now, userA just accepted a trade he may not want, because it was altered.
There are ways around this of course. One way that come to mind right away are putting a "lock" on userA's ability to accept/decline that trade offer until userB submits/exits trade edit mode. Another way is for the system in the background to completely close out the original trade offer, then automatically construct a new trade offer (with a different trade ID) to reflect the changes, preventing userA from accepting an edited trade (they would receive a message like "Trade ID no longer valid"). The former way with the lock is probably better, but it could be infuriating for a user to have trades sitting in your inbox that you cannot remove or accept because userB is editing it.
