So far, a landslide. I expected it to be the most common especially from those of us who have been on for more than a couple of years. But I am surprised that there are not more newbies" who heard about it from word of mouth as Tom said.
And ranfordfan, I am serious about inviting another Oilers fan to the club...yes I was "kidding" about the rest.

I can't remember how I first heard about the site. I joined in 2011 and may have done a few things. About a year ago I started working on scanning my Russ Davis and Andrew Shaw collections. Got a comment on a thread something to the effect of I was a problem because I'd signed up years prior but wasn't active. That, combined about how an admin approached an Andrew Shaw card concern rubbed me the wrong way and I wasn't active.
As I got more into the blogging world, I saw more and more mention of trades that occurred through here. I told a co-worker who has just recently gotten back into collecting about it, though I wasn't very active. He signed up, entered his collection and was getting trade offers almost immediately. That caught my interest so I started adding earlier this week and have already made a trade.
Billy Kingsley always talks fondly of the site and some bloggers use it, so I'm giving it a whirl. Hopefully I won't get any smug comments this go-around that cause me to check out.
Happy collecting!

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

2. Trying to identify a hated error card, if I recall. I was manually making excel checklists of a then-small collection. Once I realized the site would track my collection, FOR FREE, I dumped the spreadsheet idea, got what remained of my old original collection out of storage, and have been moderately active ever since. Though parallels and variations make me mad and caused me to quit tracking my collection, it's still my most-visited website. I can say that there are two members, who don't use the forums, who are here due to my word of mouth.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I can't remember what I was looking for or why, but I' sure I stumbled across the site while searching for infomation about something card related. Whenever I'm searching for images of cards, this site always shows up in the results.

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.
