One thing that irks me, when the Phillies have a crappy season they only make 3 or 4 cards for the whole team.

As a former pro wrestling referee myself, I am APPALLED that anyone would suggest that ANY official would be a party to fixing ANY sporting event!!!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

That was one of the funniest "statements" I've seen in a LONG time.

If the team does good there will be more players drafted and that will add more cards I need to collect.
Waiting to see if Tanner Lee get a card.

It doesnt really affect me that much. I have always had favorite players more so than a favorite team. I mean heck as a Texas Rangers fan it can be hard to get too excited about the season anyway.

Their success, or lack thereof, does not affect my collecting of their cards. But there are two Chicago MLB players that have way too many cards- Sammy Sosa and Frank Thomas. Seriously, it was overkill with the card production of those two. I avoid their non-base set cards whenever possible.

winning, or lack thereof, does not affect my collecting, but when I sell extra team sets of my teams, I notice that the championship years sell more than other years..I guess that would be more to the casual collectors than to somone trying to get all from a team or set..

If you turn around the original posted question to this question there's an enormous difference.
Original question:
How does your team's success affect your love of the sport/hobby?
|
As a lifelong Cubs fan my team's success had no affect on my love of the sport/hobby because until recently they had no success.
Newly worded question:
How does winning, or lack thereof, affect my collecting?
Besides all the Cubs teams, this is exactly what I collect, winners. I'm not a casual collector. The teams I buy are the World Series participants from each year. It's the only reason I would have any interest in the St. Louis Cardinals of 1964, 1967, 1968, 1982, 1985, 1987, 2004, 2006, 2011 and 2013. If you're not a World Series player, MVP, ROY or CY winner or in the HOF I don't really need you for my collection. In that respect, winning is exactly what defines what I collect.
-------------------------------
My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.

I love my Sabres regardless how well they are doing. I look forward to each and every game, even pre-season
