There's already somebody trying to do this. But it's not really high quality. They bought out the South Texas Diecast website, which was a Hot Wheels database, and ruined it. When I saw what they did to that I decided I didn't want to contribute to that group. The guy that runs it sent me a friend request on Facebook, if I can remember his name I'll put you in touch. That's if he hasn't cut me for repeatedly dodging his requests for a phone call. I don't even use the telephone to call my actual family and friends.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. This site is exactly what I was looking for, I just wish I had found years earlier, and then didn't lurk in the shadows for a year before I started using it. A quick google search will show you how many collectable databases are out there. I see this as just another push of ones agenda.

I am less than a year into joining but I think what you have is what works. It is funny that it would come up today as I was out yesterday and went to an Annual Bargain Blaster Garage Sale held at a State Fair Grounds. I bought a 1951 Yankees Team Picture, a Miniature Heisman Trophy Statue commemorating Bo jackson's 1985 win, three books that contained replicas of some of the most expensive Baseball Cards you can look for (I had never seen these before), and a Complete 1991 Topps Heritage Set (replicas of the 1953 Topps Set). After leaving I hit a sale where I bought identical cars. One was a Dale Earnhardt and the other a Richard Petty. They are kind of cartoonish and not similar to what they drove. The Richard Petty is autugraphed though. I believe it to be Autographed because I live near Bristol Motor Speedway and I bought from a guy with lots of other Nascar items and he said Petty was at the Food City at an event to celebrate the Food City 500 at Bristol. The Autograph is in line with others I looked up and I paid nothing for it. I also bought a Tony the Tiger Baseball, two UT basketballs, and a UK basketball. These are all collectable to me and now on display in my man cave. I cannot find anything similar to my Autographed Richard Petty Car on eBay. According to what I have found I did really well on my purchase for a Richard Petty Autograph. All things are collectable but not all are numbered, manufactured, and organized like the world of Cards that are in this Database. That said I think what has been setup here works very well from what I have experienced in my short time. Trying to organize a general Database for collectibles would be like this post I just typed. Very lengthy and confusing. These purchases yesterday are only a tidbit of the hundreds of miscellaneous purchases I have made over the years for sports collectibles that unlike Cards are not as easy to track and organize.

As this site is actually called (The) Trading Card Database ,alias TCDB, would lead one to believe that it was originally inteneded to be for cards. Allowing to open it up, albeit in a "connected" manner, to "other collectibles/collectables" would exponentially cause a dilution of the original intention. Leaving well enough alone is better in the end. Maybe better to allow other sites manage the myriad of "others".

Cards and card related/released products (card company released or inserted stickers/tattoos/iron ons/pins/ ect...). Somebody will no doubt bring up postcard sized products but they are cards, just post cards.
Trading Card Database.
Bob if you would like to create a new site for other things by all means go for it. If you would like this new site to have a relationship with TCDB and ADMIN wants to go that route with you go for it. However changing anything here would not be desireable to myself.

Wow reading this all made me go back and see how long I have been on this site. I collect baseball and have been struggling to get my collection and doubles in order so that I can get on to adding all the other stuff I don't collect. I think adding more to the site would bring in some knew people, but would also bring in some dishonest people like we had in the past. I say leave it as it is. I have been on here almost 9 years now and it has grown a lot and keeps getting better.
I don't know how many people are excited about baseball but this guy is already geared up and heading to Cincinnati For Opening Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the replies pretty much speak for any form of "expansion". NO ! However, I do want to mention a few things 1] Any expansion wouldn't change TCDB, of course other than clearing out the non-card items that are listed throughout the site and conjour up constant posts.. The construction of an Other Collectibles database would only have a link if you wished to add items, not everybody need to even look. I wouldn't even consider anything constructed by an outside party either. It would have to be a TCDB member as to keep it within the community. 2] Also remember without changing the non-card entries our forum will continue to be flooded with Other Collectible queries. That doesn't bother me at all, I luv the forum, I luv to write and read, I luv to debate as well.
I'm still willing to spearhead something, if other members wish to help. PM me. As always, Alls good. ~BOB~

I was thinking about this. What is needed is a website that is; say named "The Collectors Club"
This website would compile of a listing of all websites that stick to a thier special Collections. Stick some add on it so it pays for its self. Have message boards for questions and chats rooms so anyone can hang out and take about what they like. A simple format that links all cool collecting websites with anyone that collects anything, could grow into something useful and cool.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

Totally agreed that this Web Site needs to keep the focus and effort on Trading Cards, period . . .
