A. Nats are my second favorite team, since I live in DC. With no Cubs left to cheer for, I'm all in on the Nats.
2. The Nats were as good as anyone from the end of May forward. That was no upset.
III. I never liked Bryce Harper, but it wasn't his fault the Nats didn't win playoff series before. You do have to wonder just a bit whether the lack of focus on him helped them ease up a bit, though, and have fun playing.
D. As a Cubs and Nats fan, I'm totally anti-Cardinal in the NLCS. And we need someone new in the WS. Not sure who to root for in the ALCS, with both teams being juggernauts...Aww, who am I kidding? I can't root for the Yankees.

It's Astros 110% for me, but ...
Had the Rays won I'd be rooting for them the rest of the way.
They're a team I've liked back when they had Longoria (whom I collect) and Carl Crawford (a fantasy baseball stud at one time).
In a way I'd like an Astros/Cards series as a nostalgic one back when both were in the NL, but I'd welcome the Nats for the new blood they bring to the playoffs.

As a Nats fan I am super excited they finally have gotten this far. I would love to see them go all the way, but it will be an uphill battle. Heck it has been an uphill battle since early May when they were 19-31. They didn't take the division but snuck into the playoffs. They have certanly done a lot this season and post season. It is their 5th trip to the post season yet with the fewest regular season wins than the previous trips. Their first time to compete in the Wild Card and they win that beating a team that bested them 4-2 during regular season matches. Then going on to beat the #1 seed that had 106 regular season wins including 4-3 vs the Nats. These Cardinals have beaten them in the regular season 5-2. Go Nats! (Hmm maybe Sports Illustrated's 2018 Prediction of the Nats beating the Yankees in the World Series was off a season)

Congrats to the Nats for winning the Game 1. Sanchez was on it tonight! SO close to a no-hitter. Even as a Cardinals fan, that was an exciting game. Defense was key for both teams but Anibal shut down the Cardinals offense. That diving catch by Zimmerman was the most fantastic defensive play I've seen this post-season. But I'd bet money that the Cards win Game 2! I'm guessing the Cards wore themselves out making sure they won the NLDS. They just couldn't deal with Sanchez. We'll find out soon.

When the Cubs failed to make the playoffs, I decided I was cheering for the Nats and Dodgers because I want Scherzer or Kershaw get a ring. Of course, Kershaw seems to the be the main reason that Kershaw has never won it all, and that held true last series. I guess I'm all in on Washington now.

Growing up in St. Louis I have always been a Cards fan, win or lose. I agree with Spaz that diving catch at first by Zimmerman was one of the best plays I have ever seen.
I think the Cards are in trouble....1 hit off a #5 starter and the flamethrowers are up next. Washington played a great game last night and deserved to win.

Sanchez is the #4 starter, not #5. But he's been as good as anyone for the last four months or so. And he's already got a no-hitter to his name. So, yes a bit surprising, but not a total shock.
As for the Cards wearing themselves out to win the NLDS, that's true. But the Nats did the same and had to travel even more. And were on the road. No way this series is locked up or anything, but the Cardinals are gonna have a tough go of it. They need to win four of six against Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin, Sanchez, Scherzer, Strasburg. Doolittle looks like himself again. Hudson is back from paternity leave. And Scherzer seems to be back as well. That's a tall order. I think it all centers on the Nats bullpen in the seventh inning. No lead is safe....

Well 2-0 heading into game 3 at home in DC so we will see if things continue for my current home team (moved around too many times to have just one home team). Pitching on both sides has been tremendous, but the bats for both teams have to wake up at some point?
