I was looking for videos on youtube and a thumb popped up with Joe Garagiola. Man I miss him and hearing his voice on a game. Nothing made my Saturday when I was a kid like the game of the week. Especially the rare Ranger game. We didn't have access to cable so the game of the week and Monday Night Baseball was all we had. I did enjoy listening to the Rangers on WBAP with my little transistor radio.
What do you miss?

When I first saw the Forum topic, I thought that baseball had gone on strike again. But seeing it isnt, I do remember grrowing up watching to the Baseball Game of the Week on TV and being entertained by Dizzy Dean and Buddy Blattner. WOW, I learned a new language from old Dizz. He took a lot of flak from teachers everywhere, but he was fun to listen to.

This week in Baseball. It was on every Saturday afternoon before the Red Sox game. Even as I type this, I can still hear in my head, "Hello there everybody, this is Mel Allen" .

This is what I was thinking. I have watched a lot of old episodes of this again in the past couple years on YouTube. I also watch a lot of baseball from the early 80's on YouTube as well.

Pitchers hitting. Even though most were terrible there were a few that were good enough to give your team hope.

I agree with Kirk. I'm old school and i miss the strategy of pitchers hitting. I also *really* miss extra innings - starting innings with a runner on second is a joke of a rule.

I miss Ball Parks with character. None of the short outfield walls. What would Ernie Banks think?

Real umpiring. These guys have all this electronic assistance, they soon won't be needed.

I miss pitchers being able to pitch inside without a threat of expulsion and pitchers batting.
