so sad to hear the news of his passing.  he, along with joe namath, are the earliest memories i have of football.  due to the similarity between his name and the franco american co., i started called him "spaghetti o".  i was too young to see the immaculate reception, or least have a memory of it, and sadly ironic his death comes just a few days before the 50th anniversary of that game.  thank you mr. harris for what you contributed to football fans around the world.

The NFL Network film "Franco Harris: A Football Life" premieres this Friday (12/23) on the 50th anniversary of his immortal catch.  He nearly made it to the milestone.

Franco remains one of my favorite players of all time, even if his Steelers beat my Cowboys twice in Super Bowls he played in.

I was talking to a friend about the Immaculate Reception just a couple of days ago. One of the greatest plays ever, and I'm glad Franco will be remembered as a true legend for that play.

RIP Franco.

Even if you do not like him or the Steelers, you still have to respect his contribution to the game of football. RIP.

I wonder if that documentary will cover his habit for running out of bounds A LOT, which irked some people considering his size.  Of course, it's a team game ... doesn't matter HOW you move the chains as long as you DO it.  In the early 80s, Jim Brown expressed his disdain for the Harris style ... he was a fan of Eric Dickerson instead.
